Just find a donor with everything you need, easiest way. Then you still need motor mounts and other misc pieces/parts. Nothing is a direct swap in, except another 4 cylinder.

Motor, tranny, case, ECM, driveshafts maybe, radiator, fuel pump, and tach

I would look at a Cherokee there are a zillion of them around and they have no resale value and use the same tranny, motor, and other components and probably not abused as much as a wrangler.

Some of the trannys are close but not 100 percent the same.

Big, aren't the frame mounts in a different locations from the 4 to the 6?

Thank Yoy this information is very helpful the Cherokee idea is great my biggest worry is the electrical change 4cly to 6 cly ang is the tranny possible as far as exchange?

The auto trannys are way longer and will be a difficult thing to overcome.

So here is my .02 so take it for what it is worth. When i thought about doing that same swap with my old 1995 4banger after doing the research and talking to a bunch of people i came to the conclusion that it isn't worth the hassle or expense. I came up with the two options of sell the 4cyl and buy one with a 6cyl or go balls to the wall and just swap in a V8.

Would a stick shift be longer also it is a stick?

Also is there anything I could do to increase the power on the 4 cly?

Best think I ever did to mine was a throttle body spacer and a K&N filter. I had a K&N intake and conical filter at one point but ended up putting the stock intake back on because it ran better.

You could add a turbocharger, it's fairly expensive but I have heard pretty good things about it
