Let me see them black GRILLES

Bros with blacked out grilles share some pics.

Trying to decide if I want to plasti-black my grille or not. What do you guys think? Should I pull the trigger and do it?

Scott2373 06-22-2013 07:57 PM

Definitely do it! It changes the look of the Jeep dramatically. I Plasti-Dipped mine shortly after bringing it home. I'd post a pic, but I'm at work right now, and can't access Photobucket from these computers.

Go for it. If you don't like it then just peel it off.

DO IT!!!
Here's a little persuasion.

MJ your ride is looking damn good. Can I ask where you picked up your light bars? I heard they are bright as hell.

mjpjr45 06-23-2013 12:17 AM

Got it from Jeepaddons.com.

Well at least it won't peel. Sounds like a fantastic idea haha

vacca foeda 06-23-2013 08:31 AM

I've been really happy with mine. An additional bonus in fl is it provides some protection from the love bugs.

Damn so many possibilities! The gloss look definitely has me second guessing bed liner or plasti.

Was unsure about doing this with a relatively new 2012 last year.

Found a 2011 scratched grill on Craig's List with the top seal and amber lenses intact for $75 [the sellers's mall crawler had to be perfect and it WAS a chrome grill]. Bought it and Dip'ed it. Out ~$85 but now have two complete grills and the contrast has grown on me. Am going to remove the Dip and bedline when vac comes around this summer.
Still have people asking me about my 'other' Jeep when I sometimes swap out the original front. Believe JK '07-->'12 and maybe newer models sub out.

the image is old...many mods since

xxxxxxxxxxxtklein42 06-23-2013 05:44 PM

I can't decide between the gloss or the bed line so I got both. If I don't like the gloss gonna just coat it with bed liner. Pics to follow

Prepping for paint! No turning back ;)

NFRs2000NYC 06-23-2013 09:54 PM

Awesome mod. Protects the paint from chips and insect guts, and looks bada$$.

Picked up my new 2013 JKU on a Wednesday (one and a half weeks ago) and on Thursday put on the black grille. We really like the contrast and get lots of compliments.

We purchased a white grille from Craigslist for $40 and a can of bedliner for $9. Also went with the grille guard from Lowes. Pretty cheap mod that has really paid off big!

Sorry for the dirty pic. Just got back from doing some mudding!

Final product. Gloss or bedline? That's the question. Gonna give it a few days and see how I feel.

dirtybiketrash 06-24-2013 08:59 AM

I think I will go with the bedliner. One of the goals is to protect that area from rock chips, and gloss paint doesn't gain anything in that regard. I prefer the duller look of the bedliner, as well.

Deezz22 06-24-2013 09:31 AM

plasti dipped mine, get compliments on it all the time
