Jeep fuel doors

Can't stand how much selection there is only because I can't make up my mind. Ahhhh!!! Can I see your fuel doors and get some suggestions for the best fit on a jk.

Easy... just don't get one.

Scott2373 06-22-2013 07:41 PM

Go with the OEM one - best in my opinion! Here is a link to the best price I found for it: Free Shipping for Jeep Wrangler 07 13 JK Mopar Fuel Filler Door Black 4 Door | eBay

The best fit is the Mopar replacement fuel door. You remove the existing insert and then install the complete fuel door. Most of the others just attach to the outside of the existing insert.

What he said... he beat me by a minute.

I installed this one, it took all of 10 minutes and looks great.

I agree on getting the OEM one, but this one looks like it's missing most of the silver looking screws? I got mine directly from the dealership (love the discount my dh gets :) ).

AirForce_Jeeper 06-22-2013 08:02 PM

Agree with previous posts. I put the Mopar fuel door on my 2010. Very easy install.

Silencer 06-22-2013 08:13 PM

Definitely go with the Mopar door. Perfection.

Those mopar fuel doors look awesome.. I'm just concerned someone might come around and put sugar in my gas tank :( who knows?? I live in an apartment complex..

You could get a locking gas cap less than $20.

This one is the OEM Mopar one. Maybe a bad picture, but the screws are all silver. I have it installed on my Jeep.

Well, no one has post a pic yet but here's mine. It was a Christmas gift for my wife before we even owned our Jeep. She said she just wanted something to cover the gas cap and didn't want any locking feature, although I believe they make a locking version that uses the same key as the ignition. It's the Mopar door.

Sugar in the gas tank doesn't actually do anything. Except you'd have sugar in your gas tank obviously but it won't damage your motor.

You might be right, I don't have a clue myself. Would you be willing to put a few pounds in yours to prove the point? I am sure the issue would not be damaging the moter but maybe clogging or gelling up the fuel system. Makes me want to mix some sugar with gas just to see what it does now.

I think it was even on mythbusters. It didn't do anything.

yeah:

Cool. But you still won't catch me pouring any in mine.

HouseofCards 06-23-2013 04:28 AM

I heard sugar in your gas tank makes your engine tick :hide:.

x12 on OEM fuel door.
Not a close up but it matches factory flares good. Also says JEEP like previous pic.

DIXIEDOG 06-23-2013 08:21 AM

I put the Mopar black door on mine also....looks good but it's got a bit more play than I like. Is it normal to be able to move it around a bit after it's clipped in place?

I didn't put mine on for protection from sugar but the original "cup" looked like a heck of a place for road slush to pool up in the winter and then freeze making it a pain to get the fuel cap off.

shrwud96 06-23-2013 08:30 AM

Mine moved around a bit too which is normal. I took it back off and put a few dabs of silicone on back and now it doesnt move at all!

RB-10rubicon 06-23-2013 09:02 AM

Mopar nice quality ..take the time and paint the screws

st1264 06-23-2013 10:08 AM

I was thinking about getting one like the OP... when I saw most people had them around here, I decided not to get one. Would rather spend my mod money on other things. But if you like it, go buy it... as it's your Jeep to do whatever you like with it.

Looks good man. WHat did you paint the screws with? standard paint or the infamous Plasti-Dip ?

p.s. shout out ...JERSEY ! ! !

RB-10rubicon 06-23-2013 03:44 PM

Rusto bedliner great stuff

pepatrick 06-23-2013 04:07 PM

Yep..The Mopar in this case is by far the best looking mod. If you want a secure gas cap...get the Mopar locking gas cap that is keyed to your ignition key..then add the Mopar door on top. I love the combo.

Gbobva 06-23-2013 04:14 PM

I got the RR one that fits over the existing one for Christmas (I should have been more specific).

I am NOT a fan of the very small self tapping screws that hold it on. Every time I fill up I am afraid I am going to rip it off. As soon as I upgrade a few other things I going to go all MOPAR on it.

No worry. Mopar also sells a locking gas cap that can be coded to our car key.

I just orderer mine from my Jeep dealer, and they installed it for me without extra charge.
