Wrangler Warriors, Advice Needed!

Hello All, long time lurker first time poster. Been browsing this forum for the past few months as I've been saving for a new Wrangler. Seems like a friendly, knowledgeable group here.

So down to it. I open the paper today and see that a local dealer is selling a stock 2013 JK, Billet Silver for 17.9k. While it isn't my first color choice, and it is missing the 3.73 gearing, it seems like way too sweet of a deal to pass up.

Is this a good deal? Do these deals pop up more often than I realize, or should I jump on it?

Also would a stock, manual soft top lose too much in resale value? Still not sure if it's too good to be true, being almost 5k off retail.

Thanks!

You can always regear the axles later. Price $1000-$2000 based on location.

I'd probably end up doing that, something I'd be willing to bite the bullet on if I'm saving money up front. Just hoping it's not a ploy by the dealer to get me there and try to shove a fully loaded Rubicon down my throat..

For that price....id go.....hell...they gave me 17.2 for my 09 X as a trade in.......but this is a new 13..base model... but still a JEEP...

Thats really cheap! I'd check it out!

WiredFive 06-23-2013 10:45 AM

Thanks guys. I'm gonna check it out this morning, if all goes well I'll be sure to put up a pic. Soooo stoked!!

Very good price, of corse the dealer only had 1for that price, and he sold it yesterday, to his son-in-law! GL in your search

Get there quick. It's bait. Most place an add for a JK/JKU at a great price on a one only and even list the VIN for it. There is one of each in the Sunday paper out here.

Cool thanks for the advice guys. I ended up picking one up for 18k before tax and fees (gotta love my local 9.9 sales tax..). Bone stock 2013 JK Manual in Billet Silver. Wheels and 33's already picked out!

Thanks again :thumb:

Pics! Or it didn't happen.

Haha I'll get them up soon, the one I bought was still in transit. Should be here on Wednesday.

Little worried that I'll regret not getting the 3.73s as I do a lot of camping in the mountains during the summer (jeep is gonna be packed!), but with the money I saved I guess it won't be too big of a deal to regear. Amazing how few of the JKs on the lot had that gearing though.

Congrats on the deal! Just curious, though, did it have A/C? the ones I have seen at those price levels don't have A/C and down here in the deep south, A/C is mandatory! :D

WiredFive 06-24-2013 04:01 PM

Thanks! Nope no A/C. Over here in western Washington we're lucky to get a couple weeks a year when it would even be needed, and that's when the top's gonna be off. :punk:

I doubt you'll need the 3.73's for camping in the mountains. You always have 4WD low to get you up a steep grade. Try it before you re-gear.

WiredFive 06-24-2013 04:22 PM

Thanks Reece. I'm definitely gonna wait it out. For my needs it should be fine; light off-road use and logging trails. I think reading some of the 3.21 vs 3.73 threads just brings back memories of the Isuzu Amigo I drove in high school haha. Whopping 100hp or whatever it was.
