Hey there I got these so I could run without doors and still be legal but they apparently mount to the steel doors hinges and I have seen mirror relocation brackets on quadratec but I was wondering if u guys have done anything different

I just did it, I used some cheapie brackets that mounted to my lower front hinges. They were s son of a gun because the bolts had nuts behind, the dash buried in some sort of undercoating. I had to drill the bolts out and pull the dash out as far as I could.

How did u reach the bolts on the driver side if u don't mind me asking

bubbadah 06-29-2013 11:26 PM

I drilled them out from the front so that was easy. I needed to change the speakers so I pulled the speaker and that gave me enough room to get a wrench in and install the nuts. I think you could leave the speaker in place, pull the dash out and remove the parking brake assembly to get your hand on There. Replacing the speaker was as hard as the bracket. I was planning on installing a carpet kit but the temperature peaked at 106 degrees on Northern California today so the brackets were all I could handle.

I forgot to mention, I bought the cheapie brackets on E Bay for $16.00 . They are nothing special and the passenger mirror is rendered useless. I have seen some on Quadratec that are offset so you can see the passenger side through the windshield. They had the added advantage of mounting to the side of the windshield bracket, eliminating the need to get behind the dash.i would have bought those but the stupid star bolts stripped and I couldn't get those bolts out.

I just put CJ hinges on the last time I replaced my windshield. I guess you could drill and tap the hinges too. I like the old style mirrors better than those monsters from the YJ.

I just replaced my speakers too so I now wish I had the brackets when I had the dash apart but I did get the ones from quadratec that mount on the lower side hinge but I still have to take the dash apart

HD mirrors

I got 2 HD mirrors from EBay for $5....$12 plus shipping and made an aluminum bracket to hold them out a bit so they had full motion...total cost about $18 for both mirrors. If you get the long stem HD mirrors you won't need the bracket, but they are hard to find for less than $25 to $40 each.

I made my own cost $0

Finally got around to putting them on and I love them thumbs up for going toppless

I use the mirror mount that slip into the door hinges. WOrk well but need to be careful as they can move easily while driving...
