Places to wheel??

I live in MD, around the Baltimore area, and there are no legal places to wheel my jeep :banghead:. So I am looking for places in Virgina that wont be to far from me. If anyone can tell me of a place that might not be to far away from me.

Really the only places in va is in george washington national forest. I live out by gainesville and it takes me 1.5 hours to get there. Your best option might be rausch creek in pennsylvania or something north that might be closer.

Well you have flagpole (boring) and Shoe Creek. Though shoe creek would be a long drive from MD

Flagpole is alright the first few times, but as turbo said it gets really boring. I havent done shoe creek or potts mountain, but I've heard great things about both. If your looking for a beginner trail flagpole would be your best bet for distance traveled I think.

You need to join Virginia Offroad Warriors on Facebook. We have a Potts mountain camping trip coming up July 27th. And I do shoe creek camping trips.

Hi Sanchez.

Check my wheeling in the GWNF reports in the VA forum section. There are miles and miles of easy wheeling in the GWNF. Even more when the seasonal roads open during hunting season. Get yourself the National Geographic Trails Illustrated map series.

In addition to Rausch Creek I recommend the Big Dogs events held at The Cove Campground in Gore, VA. There's one coming up in August.

Lastly, since you are a Marylander I suggest joining the Maryland Elements Offroad group on Facebook. Nice bunch of people.

Big Dogs is fun. But unless you roll alone in your vehicle, it's WAY too expensive.
