Mirrors

Going doorless as soon as I get paid Thursday but I'm not sure what mirrors to get. I don't want to relocate my mirrors with the bracket being as I can't keep the doors off overnight in my neighborhood. Something that has good quality and doesn't vibrate too much.

Relocate with the brackets. They come with block off plates for the doors. Its the best.

Lange quick mirror ii looks cool.

Also, soft doors!!!

Search for defiant systems here on the forum. Hes a sponsor (and a vet!). A lot of guys here are running his mirrors and are very happy, myself included.

Check out Harley Davidson p/n's 90910-90A (LH) and 90909-90A (RH if you want one). Nice, heavy duty mirrors. NO vibrating.

Here a pic of the Defiant Systems mirror. They work great.

I echo this comment.

Actually mirror relocation is not difficult at all. I relocate my mirrors every time I take my doors off and I have had my doors on and off 4-5 times in the last couple of months. 2 screws each mirror and that is all. It is more difficult to take the doors off than the mirrors.

Die-Tech Off-road Mirror Brackets

No vibration from these and you can see the passenger mirror exactly the same as if it was on the door. Just want to let people know that taking the mirrors off the doors is by far the simplest process of taking the doors and top off so don't let that thought stop you from the idea of relocation brackets. Another little secret is that taking my mirrors off prevents the nasty dent should the door swing open during the removal process.

I do too, except I bought a tear drop shaped Harley mirror instead of the ones shown. Worked great on my LJ, no vibrations. Haven't tested them on the JKU yet. Just make sure you get the long stem mirrors.

Any closer shots of the Harley mirrors

You'll have to ask Motor City, he posted the pics not me. I don't have any pics of the mirror on my LJ as it's sold, and haven't used it on the JKU yet.

I take it none of the relocation brackets let you re-route the power for mirror adjust/defrost?

Will see if I have a closer pic or can crop a larger one down. As easy as the mirrors probably come off I didn't want to do that every time I pulled the doors. And especially on the 2014 we have on order.

Cropped a higher res version of the pic I posted earlier. Sorry I don't have something better.

I haven't taken my doors of my JK yet, since everytime I want to go doorless I drive my TJ which is quite a bit more modified. I got the brackets for my TJ, and those mirrors stay on the brackets attached to the body whether the doors are on or off. I prefer that methodology due to my lazy arse. If I had to keep track of a second set of mirrors to mount when I took the doors off, I might not take them off as much or I might not be close to the second set of mirros when I wanted to go doorless.

The only problem with the brackes is the passanger side mirror has a limited viewing area with the hard door on and even worse with the soft door on. To me, this con is still outweighted by the benefit if this allowing me to be lazy.

I need to find a set of permanent mirror brackets that pushes the passanger side mirror either further out from the Jeep or further back towards the door opening. However, either option could cause the door to hit the mirror when opening the door. Jeep really should design the next Wrangler with the mirrors mounted to the body as a stock feature.

I'm copying this when I use them on the new one:

Motor City, that's the mirror (in your link) I used on my LJ, and plan to use on my JKU. Funny thing to me is the guy you plan to copy is in NC like I am. In NC, we only have to have 2 mirrors: 1 rearview, and 1 sideview, so I only run a Harley on the driver's side. I guess he just wanted 2 mirrors. With the top and doors off, I never missed the passenger mirror.

Each to his own, though. Does look like a good mod.

MotorCityJK 06-26-2013 02:50 PM

Definitely don't need the passenger side with everything off but it's nice for a quick blind spot check. We're only required to have the driver's side mirror as well.

I went with the Lange Originals Quick Mirror I in Black for mine. They do vibrate some but get the job done. I can take them on/off in a matter of seconds.

Anyone know how to get in touch with Defiant Systems about the mirrors? The system says the message box is full...I need to reach him about my order. Thanks!!
