'01 door handle coming off

So my driver side door handle is coming off. I open the door, and then have to shove the bottom corner back in. I saw the "how to" on replacing the door handles, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to go through all that just to fix this. Ideas?

No quick fix you have to take the door apart . I found it easy to just pull the glass too then you can get right at the locking bars (look like a saw blade) . My past 2 jeeps had that problem 1 just needed pushed back down the other jeep was missing one

I have managed to pound the clip down from the top with the window down. Helps if the door panel is off.

Why pull it off if when you just need mask the entire area properlly? I might do mine this fall. Just be cautious when sanding not to ruin the door paint.

Its not fun. I took my door off, layed it down, pull the panel and then use a strong hook shaped tool to lift up on the saw shaped spring while pushing on the clip. My handle really needed to be removed to paint otherwise I would not have bothered.

It's the outside door handle. I don't want to paint it, at least not yet. I just want it to stop coming out when I open the driver side door.

I don't have any pics yet, I'll try to get one.

Okay, so I disassembled the door again this weekend and took the handle completely out. The little metal clip that keeps the keeper from backing out was loose. So, I had to bend it back in place. I went ahead and painted the door handle since I went through all the trouble of getting it out. Now the passenger side looks like crap. LOL Guess I might have to go ahead and take that one off to paint as well. It really wasn't all that hard, just time consuming and it's hella hot in Texas right now.

It wasn't too bad taking out the handle. There was a tutorial someone posted that I found on here with photos that were very helpful. You do have to take the window out, but that part was probably the easiest of it all.

Just make sure you keep all your parts straight and taking photos as you go helps with re-assembly the first time.
