The YJ Sahara is my favorite... congrats.
My first "car" was a '91 Sahara handed down to me from my dad. I loved it. Oh, if only that backseat could talk.
Unfortunately I sold it about 10 years ago and have regretted it ever since. Well, I just got another one... an '89 YJ Sahara.

Congrats again... enjoy it. And get some pics up!!!

Just picked up a '91 sahara

My first love was an '89 islander. Sold it years ago and haven't stopped thinking about it since. I am excited to be back! Anyone have thoughts on plasti-dip?

That's jeep karma! Congrats. Mine needs a ton of work I am hoping the process will be a fun one and not too draining on the pocket....

After I drive my jeep for about 10 minutes, the engine starts choking at around 20rpm. It starts in 2nd gear and eventually in every gear shortly after. Feels like it's running out of gas or not getting air but it only happens after engine is warm. Any ideas???

My jeep usually runs better when I take the air cleaner lid off. Try that for the air. for the fuel, maybe its the filters or fuel pump, both easy cheap fixes

Plastidip is easy to spray and relatively easy to take care of. Few things though ... surface prep is definitely key and you should invest in an HVLP spray gun rather than use aerosol cans. Here are pictures of my 94 Sahara in a 80% Camo Green / 20% Black blend plastidip. There were 6 coats of paint and 5 coats of glossifier.

I really like the way that 80/20 mix came out. Do you suggest I do the same? Does it give it that original Sahara look?

Nica_Dom 07-29-2013 11:58 AM

looks awesome

Fredzo 07-29-2013 05:58 PM

Check the pics of my '89 Sahara. It was Yuppie-owned, and taken off-road once before I bought it 5 years ago. It has always been garaged, even now, unless I'm towing it somewhere behind my motorhome to go off-roading myself.

It's the original paint!
