Hey,
well I am relatively new to the forum haven't really been able to get on as much as i would like internet over here sucks. I am currently deployed but will be back in about 2 months (yesssss) I am out of the Savannah area and I am looking for some help in installing a lift. I would know if anyone is near or will be near around that time to help me out if all possible. All the beer you want will be included I am willing to drive anywhere in GA or northing FL and parts of SC just let me know. I am wanting to put the combo lift from off-road on the jeep an 01 sport. the lift consists of 1.25" body lift, 1" motor mount lift, & 3" Suspension lift and then put some bigger rims and tires not sure I know 33's will fit but I was wondering if 35 would fit without rubbing. I plan on mudding every once in a while but nothing extreme yet. I went off roading in hmmvs and loved it so I thought I would give it a shot any help is really appreciated

I would check into a local Jeep club but installing a lift even solo is not that bad. There are numerous threads on it here. 33's will suit you fine. Not knowing your current setup but 35's would require more $$$ (regearing, ? axles,DS,SYE, etc..) Not worth the small difference in height and harder on the steering components.

Unless you have a lot of money to spend I'd stick to 33s. Like the other poster said, 35s need a lot of upgraded parts. Upgraded steering, brakes, regearing most likely, and at least a Dana 44 rear axle or ford 8.8. Also thanks for your service.

35's will fit, but expect rubbing over speed bumps and sloped driveways. Plus, as other posters mentioned, it's going to cause lots of thrashing on current axles and brakes.

2" ome lift.....1" bl....mml and 33's and be done with it.

No but I plan on buying the lift eventually, but have read a fair amount about it.

yea i am still debating on what rims and tires to put on mine they get kind of high and just for me to go up one inch in tire i really want the 35s but i dont see me spending that much and i have to project cars i want to do. are you going with 33's as well

I'll most likely be going with 33s. Maybe I'll upgrade parts while the 33s are wearing out and eventually go to 35s.

hmm yea i like the look but a lot from what i have been told goes into making it ready for 35;s

Bypass the zone lift......stick with a lift that uses stock spring rates and parts that truely enhance your ride.

What are you talking about? Zone makes a pretty good product. And stock spring rates are ok if you not adding anything extra onto the jeep like a oversized spare, tire carrier, bumpers, winches, armor, etc.

No. It won't make the springs sag a lot. Once you start adding heavy bumpers, winches, and other armor they will sag but coil spacers can solve the problem.

No. But if you put a tire carrier on there and plan on hauling alot of gear in the back when you go wheelin or camping, then I'd say you'll want higher than stock spring rates.

Not in my book. Its an economy budget lift. If the OP is on a major budget and thats all he can afford is 4-500 bucks, then fine. But if he has more money in his budget or can WAIT and save up for a longer period of time, he should. Zone shocks are terrible/light duty and fade fast, and their springs are not shot peened and scragged. I mean when you can get a lift kit for $500 that includes springs, shocks, some control arms(that really dont flex well)a few odds n ends brackets/accessories for that type of money it should set off some bells in the noggin.

Stock spring rates are also more than "OK" whether your adding anything in weight or not. One of the biggest issues with alot of aftermarket lift springs is that they achieve lift by going to a much stiffer spring rate while using less coils which equals in reality a shorter spring. Which is IMO backwards thinking when lifting. It kills the ride quality, can create excessive body roll when offroading, requires much better shocks(twin tubes and stiff springs = fast wearing shocks that are poorly matched)that are valved correctly for the stiffer springs and loads associated with it. Unfortunately, there are few "kits" that take this into account, especially the cheap kits like what zone offers.

I run 2" coils with "factory" 140/160lb ratings, have full steel perimeter armor, heavy bumpers, winch, braces, full skids underneath, a full cargo cage,hardtop, much heavier spare w/exogate and its an LJ on top of that. I have no "sagging" whatsoever, and I get my full 2" lift with correct factory rake on top of it.
