Spare tire stuck on the carrier.

I'm trying to get my spare tire off the carrier but it will not budge. I used a piece of a 2X4 and a 3 pound sledge with no movement at all. Anybody got any suggestions?

Take the lugs off or post pics.

PB all over, a winch, try a ratchet strap. Back it up to a tree.

My spare has a wheel lock on it. The guy who sold me the jeep never gave it to me.

My first thought, being female, would be to take it to a tire place, they are experts in getting them off. They probably have every kind of key for the locks too, or know how to get them off.

Use an Impact wrench. Let some air out of the tire. I will take stress off of the lug nuts... If the tire is pressing hard against the rubber bumpers on the tailgate (IIRC the YJ has those too)

Weld a nut to it and take it off with a impact.

Take the whole carrier off! Get a set of really big tires, rims, and a new spare carrier it'll be awesome! And really if its that stuck pull the thing off of your tail gate, do what ever it takes, torch, freeze off spray, dynamite whatever. and use a little anti seize on it when she finally comes off

I like the way you think....

Thank for the suggestions. Of course I removed the lug nuts. The spare is on an aftermarket aluminum wheel and I think the bolt holes are just the right ( or wrong ) size to barely fit on those lug bolt posts. Add that with who knows how many years of rust and you get a rust welded on spare tire. I have them soaking in PB Blaster right now.

Ha ha, I guess they're more forgiving if you're a woman, we're supposed to be helpless

I had this problem myself about a month ago I wanted to check my spare before taking a bit of a trip, lugs came right off but then it was stuck on the bolts. I gave it a shot of blaster and gave it some pretty good taps with a hammer and the rust poured off. Your's might be more stuck than mine though

Finally got it off. I had to remove the tire carrier and use a sledge hammer.glad i didn't need it for anything. Thanks again for the help.
