Cab Cover vs Traditional Cover

I am a new Jeep owner. I am looking for the easiest way to cover my JK when it rains. Looking at a cab cover and a traditional entire body cover...any suggestions? Also looking to purchase the Spiderweb shade top (I know this does not protect from rain) looking for feed back on a sun shade as well! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

I wound up getting, and then returning, the bestop trail cover for my '13 JK 2door.

It's very heavy duty, so much so that is requires 2 people to put it on.

You also need to consider if you will have a factory soft top, or the factory doors installed, as the covers either fit with the top, or without it, or with doors, or without them but not both.

I usually leave my doors and the soft top on but leave the windows removed, and I've found that it's much faster to just put the windows back in then it is to put on a cover.

Spiderweb Shade is awesome! We love ours! We got the bright blue to go with a billet silver JKU.

When you're ready to order, use the coupon code FBFAN for 10% off (it was valid for Father's Day, not sure when it expires).

I had both for my TJ. Like most things there were pros and cons to each. I actually found the entire body cover to be easier to put on the Jeep. You just have to watch the antenna. Mine rubbed on the windshield from with the cover installed and left a mark on the paint. Rain tended to pool over the front cab area.

The cab cover is tougher to put on but protects against the rain better. Rain has very minimal pooling. I hate how the metal end pieces hit against the Jeep when putting the cover on the cab. It protects the cab well against leaves, light to medium rain and bird droppings. I just think it is a pain to put on and take off. I can put the entire top back up in not the much more time than to secure the cab cover!

Good luck with your decision.

I have the cab cover and I have only used it twice. I agree that it is easier and quicker to put the top and windows. I am looking at full covers, but I can'tseem to be able to make up my mind as to which one to get.

Thank you for the coupon! I would LOVE the PINK one on my Black Sahara but I will spare my husband! Ha!

FWIW I use a "cab cover", in the summer time over my "Safari styled" NX with duster and jammer......in the winter I use it so I don't have to scrap windows or clear snow....I just shake the snow or frost off and toss it in the garage...my garage stays about 50 F minimum, but I have 3 vehicles and 2 bay garage.

By the time I get home from work it is dry and can go back on the Jeep

I will keep the top and doors off 9-10 months a year - I run a Bestop cable safari top to keep the sun off me - we get a lot of thunder storms here in Ga. - I am only 5'2" ad wanted something that I could get on and off fast and easy by myself.
I bought this one from Smittybuilt - mostly cause I was more light weight than the others.

It has been great for me - first time I tried to put it on by myself it took me a good 10-12min-
Now I can have it on or off in under 5 min tops-
