black wheels- cant decide which ones.

My JK sport is in bad need of wheels, i cant stand the steelies and highway tires it came with from the factory. I am deciding between these, anyone else running them on a JK? I just sold my TJ a couple hours ago, so i am ready to buy the wheels now.

Im not too concerned about the price difference between them as this is the only upgrade i am doing to the jeep. It is my DD and the parking garage at work is only 6'4", so a lift is not a option if i want to be able to drive it to work.

edit- if the links arent working, its between the MB Wheels TKO, Black Rock D-Window alloy, and Ultra Gauntlet, all 17in in matte black*

Couldn't open the link, but I put these on mine.

Looks good but i am looking for something with no silver accents on it at all. What size tires are you running?

Here the Level 8 Trackers on my Jeep.

i just ordered the method standard and i did it last week so i get 150 rebate with the purchase and i made them price match tire racks price at discount. so instead of $205 per wheel i got them for $152 per wheel but that sale ended sunday.

Muddr1 07-02-2013 07:57 PM

Those are 285/75/16. I went with 16's due to the fact the tires were almost a hundred bucks cheaper per tire. They are 32''. When the wallet recovers I plan on doing a re gear and 35's when these run out.

I just powder coated my stock rubi wheels black. You can get a set super cheap on Craigslist and have them sandblasted and powder coated. The cost for 5 wheels to get sand blasted and powder coated was $500ish. But you could probably find a cheaper place or DIY.

I'm going with the Black Rhino Rockwells. Discount Tire Direct has them with the backspacing I want.

I do like the first one you posted above. The Helo's.

I think your second link, the Helos, are by far the best looking ones.

Powder coat factory wheels

My vote is for the stock wheels.

I had mine powder coated black.

Everything fits under the wheel flare. No lift is required. I did not need to update anything to correct the speedo.

I got to use my stock tires. Need tires? Get some Duratrac at the stock tire size.

I almost made the mistake of buying aftermarket wheels. I would have gone bigger tires. I'd need to update/flash the computer. More money. Wheels would have stuck out of the wheel wells. More money. I probably would have need to get a lift down the road if I started to rub. More money.

My opinion, and everyone has one, is stay stock so ya don't open a can of worms...

I got 33 mt's, no rubbing, no computer flash needed and speedometer right on target.

Looks good, but definitely needs atleast a leveling kit.

Its 1/2" rake is all. I am eventually going to do a 2.5" bb with shocks.

coelement777 07-02-2013 09:48 PM

mine is a base model with the 16 in wheels. If i can find a set of 17 in stock wheels ill just buy those and get them powdercoated green to match my jeep. I have not found a set yet in my area, and for what they go for new i might as well get aftermarket wheels. I do not care for the stock tires, I need something with a more aggressive tread pattern.

Hey Cole man...

craigslist is your best friend.

Your profile doesn't say where you are located? Maybe somewhere in Colorado? Is Colorado a big state?

I did a quick search on craigslist Denver and there are deals galore. Just wheels for $150 give or take. New take offs, 17 inch wheels with the aggressive looking Rubicon tires for $700 give or take. Don't be afraid to make a LOW BALL offer.

Take advantage of that guy that couldn't wait to yank his new tires/wheels and go aftermarket. These things are taking up room in his garage. He is tired of tripping on them.

My local Jeep dealer has a new take off set of 17 rims taking up space in his parts department. He wanted $250 for them. Come to Minnesota and we will fix ya up!

Moonrider 07-03-2013 12:07 AM

17" MB TKO with 315/70/17 Duratrack tires and lifted wit If i had 10 wranglers i would put same wheels and tires on all of them. Lift is 2.5" coil spring teraflex

Thanks! I originally ordered another set but DT had these in stock. He let me try them and I liked them so I got them for $110,instead of the $200 I was going to pay for the others :).
