Not a fan of the new wranglers...

I own a 2009 jku right now, and was looking around because i really aant that new engine and im bored of black... Was eye raping that dune color ;) but i drove a buddys 2013 sahara the other day and i have to say... These new wranglers are WAY too plush. I like how everything in my 2009 is easily removable. Granted i have nav, but i like that.. "Plain" look in my jeep. These new jeeps just feel too comfortable, like if i was caught in the rain with the top off it be like i ruined my mercedes.

Dont mean to rant and sound like "its not a real jeep," i just dont like how wranglers are slowly and surely losing their ruggedness

fljeepleo 07-03-2013 08:37 PM

Eh, I wouldn't order it but wouldn't say I hate it. Not as rugged as mushrooms. Eggplant would fair better in a rain storm though. IMO.

I thought mushrooms like wet weather. The little beggers are always popping up in my yard after we've had some particularly rainy weather.

RKracing 07-03-2013 09:44 PM

If I surf on it or run it over with my lawnmower (mushrooms)........ I don't eat it.

A JK owner calling another JK too plush, that is funny right there.

Those Jeeps need more low.

This thread has made me hungry. Thanks.

coelement777 07-03-2013 10:06 PM

I like the interior in my 2013. I have a sport with no options besides a/c and i dont think it is plush, but the interior is much nicer then the 07-11. I got caught in the rain earlier today and didnt think anything of it, just pulled over and put the top up. It will dry out just fine

scottmphoto 07-03-2013 10:07 PM

I hate onions.

Knew this was coming lol

But really, every new model got the same comments. Something was added for convenience to every new model or there would be no need to make one. The fact is though, the new so called plush features sells Jeeps. And if they are selling then they will be Jeeps in the future. If it takes a little more plush to keep the Jeep name alive, I can live with that. And us die-hards will complain about it but eventually give in especially after the next new model.

I really think the one coming that will really get people up in arms where the plush will even get sidelined is the windshield. I sometimes wonder if they made the JK's windshield so hard to take down was to get us used to not taking it down. Then they just phase it out and then they can add a sleeker more aerodynamic windshield for better gas mileage. Can't wait to see the outrage that will bring to the forums but that too will pass.

As long as they don't mess with the removable top and solid axles, I think we can survive the changes in the end. Oh yea, can't mess with the grill.

I agree completely- I choose my '10 over an '11 because the interior was more Jeep-like to me. I've also noticed a bunch of new Jeeps in my area, and almost every one has a hard top with windows up, no waves, and driving like an idiot. I hate to be "that guy," but the new interiors and engines have maybe become too civilized and, as a result, are watering down the Jeep tradition. It seems to me that even the "advancements" in past years still were primitive enough to keep the demographic alive?
