Hard top to soft top..

I have a '99 sahara hard top. What do I need to use a soft top in the warm months. Do I have to add hardware? Is there a top designed for this application? Thanks

if you have a hard top and haven't had a soft top on before then you can buy a soft top from best top that comes with everything you need for when your installing one for the first time and going from hard top to soft top when there hasn't already been a soft top installed

ok, sorry if post is already a week old and I didnt reply sooner.
I remove hard top for summer months and use a Best top Bikini top for summer. We bought the quick release mount for windshiled, bikini top, windjammer & rear tonneau. you'll have about 1/2 as much as going out and buying a full soft top!

Bestop

I replaced my factory soft top with a Bestop Sunrider soft top.

In East Tennessee you never know what the weather will be from one minute to the next. I like this top because I can push back the top in front on those "it might rain, it might not" days. So quick, so easy!

Got mine from Quadratec, came with all the hardware needed (which is different than the factory top).

They are starting to put these on the Unlimited's now too.

This has to be the most ingenious top made so far, check it out.

I saw several prototypes at Moab, the first week of May. They even have tinted windows. Awesome concept.

Those are really cool. Do you know what kind of pricing we are looking at?

mrbigjeep 08-14-2006 04:22 PM

wow those look pretty sweet

At the bottom of the page they list the companies that will be selling them. Here is one of them. Looks like they are going for around $600.00

Seems like a lot less hassle than a full rag top.

I know someone that placed an order for one, months ago.......seems production is on hold (legalities), but he's not giving up hope on getting one

Hey toothdawg,

If you are looking for an OEM soft top to put on your jeep, then you'll need the door channels. The OEM soft tops latch to the windshield just like your hard top, but over the doors, they have plastic pieces that fit into a groove.
Door channels are dual purpouse.
They hold the top tight to keep it from flapping and wearing out faster (along with making some racket).
They also provide your actual door sill so that everything seals up nice and tight.

I've got an extra set if this is the route you are looking to go. Where are you located?

Are you still looking for an OE soft top?
I spotted this on Craigslist.
Sounds complete, but I haven't called or looked at it.
