I bought 2 new Jeeps in 2 months

A couple months ago I bought this:

I liked it. Didn't cost much. Wife didn't like it. Nuff said.

Traded it in on this:

It's awesome. Wife likes it. Good for road trips and family vacations also. Got some AEV goodies coming for it. I bought the tires and wheels for the green one two months ago. Once the lift goes on I'll decide if these tires are too small. If they are I'll get some 35's. If not I'll have them mounted on the AEV wheels.

Went to my brother in laws and got him to help me lift the top off so I could put the soft top in storage.

Wait ...you gave up the rubi 10A wheels (one of just a couple reasons they are special) for those? Poor move in my opinion.

corvallisbattery 07-07-2013 12:34 PM

The wheels on my rubi were a selling point.

Sounds like what I did....bought a 2013 6-speed Sport (black) & traded it in 6 months later for an automatic Sport (white) due to having to drive 31 miles one way, all city, to work. I've spent more money in the past month on the white one than I did in the 6 months I owned the black one

I may get another too, waiting to see how the one I bought a couple of weeks ago holds up.

My first current generation is a JKUS. Now I got my eye on a JKR. My wife would be happy to have either.

Just wondering, does the license plate say "GETAHEMI" because you're going to get a Hemi?

I did pretty much the same thing as you. I bought a two door in November, then bought a four door in March. The four door has a Hemi.

The one and only picture I have of the two door

The four door, parked at AEV's shop.

getahemi....are you selling those OEM Rubi wheels and tires? I'd be willing to take them off your hands.

traitor08 07-07-2013 01:11 PM

I would sell the aftermarket rims and stick with the rubi rims. Nice upgrade, especially color.

Thanks guys.

I actually sold wheels back to the dealer for 1500 bucks. I thought that was decent for wheels that are too narrow and the wrong offset for wider tires. I also don't find them attractive but that is just IMHO. The tires are also too small and not what I would buy as far as tread pattern. Those are my reasons for letting the set go.

I will admit i dont even like the aftermarket wheels that much but I bought them for the Sport. I'm putting pintlers on it anyway so these are just temporary.

No I wish. I got that plate for a Dodge truck but I thought it would be cool on the jeeps. Your Hemi Jeep looks bad ass. And it's Commando too. I'd love one but I can't see it happening any time soon:eek:

Are you close to AEV?

Don't like them. Didn't keep them. Got pintlers coming. Thanks btw.

No. According to Google I'm 1,710.8 miles away from AEV.

Do you have a post about how you went about this? just curious about how everything went for you.

getahemi 07-07-2013 04:19 PM

Sorry I linked the wrong pic. They are on my previous Jeep.

Very nice 10A! The title of this thread threw me for a loop initially.... I thought I was the only one that decided one Jeep just wasn't enough - and bought 2 in 2 months.... lol Then I read through the trade-ins, and apparently, I am Jeep addicted....

I haven't started a post about my Jeep yet. How the process went is like this. I decided what I wanted, a JKUR with a 6.4. Then went to my dealership, Classic Motors, in Richfield, UT, and placed the order for the Jeep. After the Jeep was built Chrysler shipped it to AEV, in Michigan. AEV had to wait for some components from one of their suppliers (wiring harness), so their was a wait period after they got the Jeep, and before they started their work. Once they started their work it only took them three days to do the work and get my Jeep through final inspection. Then there was another wait for a week or so to get the Jeep shipped to my dealer (due to the 4th of July holiday). My Jeep ships to my dealer tomorrow. Then I will go to my dealer and pick it up, or my dealer said they would deliver it personally to my home if I want (110 miles away). The dealership needs paid for the Jeep when Chrysler ships it to AEV. And AEV needs paid before they ship it to my dealer, so everything is paid for at this time, which should make for a rather low key trip to the dealer. I just walk in, they give me the keys and make sure I know how to work the radio controls, and I get the Jeep.

Here are a few pictures that AEV took during the build process.

What kind of wheels are those black aftermarket ones? Seems like you and I maybe the only people that don't care to much for the 10a wheels.

Well I wish my driveway looked like that. I tried to get my wife to trade her bmw in on the 10a and keep the sport but that didn't work.:rofl:

That's awesome. When I asked about a turnkey AEV the dealers I spoke to thought I was from another planet. My dealer investigated and I was told AEV wouldn't ship to Canada. That's a very rare rig and its gonna be awesome. I can't imagine how fast it'll be considering the pentaster is no slouch. Make a video when you get it. I'll subscribe and I'm saving your pics to my iPad.

Did you get the jK 350 package also? I would have liked the JK 250 minus the hemi.

I think they are branded Fast but who knows. They are made in china. I just needed something cheap to put the tires on. I really don't like the 10a wheels but I better not say it to much on here. People are sensitive. :)

I like the 10A wheels but I admit I've done a double take a few times when seeing a Subaru Crosstrek.. mistakenly thinking the subie had 10A take-offs or something.

My dealer had never done an AEV Jeep either, but their attitude was right, they said they could do anything any other dealer could do.

I didn't get any particular "package" like the JK 250 or JK 350. I wanted to use different bumpers, so I just got the 3.5" lift with the upgraded reservoir shocks, AEV wheels, 35" tires, and the 6.4 Hemi. I'm planning on using an Expedition One rear bumper that is made out of aluminum, and a Teraflex tailgate hinge and tire carrier. And I'll use either an Expedition One Core front bumper, or an LOD mid-width front bumper. An interesting point about the tires - I had not wanted to use BFG KM2s, and had requested either Toyo Open Country MTs or Goodyear MTR/Ks. AEV was real pushy about the KM2s, and didn't want to do the project without them; so I said fine, use the KM2s. Well, it turned out that by the time the build was ready for tires, BFG had a nationwide backorder on 35" KM2s with no projected production date. AEV has 500 35" BFGs on backorder, and can't get them. When AEV sent me the pictures of my Jeep I was pleasantly surprised to see the Goodyear MTR/Ks on it.

Wow. Very similar. Don't like those either.:)

I can't wait to see it finished. You really are getting a custom vehicle. Nice to see you are getting the tires you want too.

The wheel exchange sounds like a mistake, but if you're happy who cares.

Any dealer that would pay $1500 for the original is nuts.

I'm not understanding the plate either, if you had a Hemi, ok, no Hemi, just silly.

Well I paid $240 bucks for it when I had a hemi. It doesn't say hasahemi or it'sahemi or gotahemi. It says getahemi.

As for wheels, I was glad to get that much. Don't think I could have sold them privately for that. Plus I didn't have to pay 13% tax on 1500 so that's a bonus. I would never use them and I'm never getting rid of the jeep so it's of no consequence to me.
