Soft top??? Are they all the same?

Have a 2013 2 door. Looking for a lightly used soft top for the summer months. Here's my question... Are all factory of the Sunrider type tops? I really would have like a soft top that was up or down. Just don't like the look of all that fabric laying on the top with the sunrider open.

I am hoping there is something that uses factory hardware without the flip open top.

Thanks Smitty

Then don't just open the sun rider, have it all the way up or down. I had a long rant typed out, but I'm not going to do it. Instead do me a favor... punch yourself in the face! Thank you.

I also had a long rant just for you:eek:...But like you, we are civilized group of animals here...

Punch yourself:facepalm:, and thank you for the useless info.

Still wondering is there two factory tops?? One with and one without the Sunrider feature.

While rude, he was on the right track of mind. There are two factory tops but its only a difference in materials. They both have the sunrider. What he was trying to say is that the sunrider has no effect on whether you have the top on or all the way down. There might be an aftermarket top that you can get that doesn't have the sunrider option. I'd check Q'tech for starters just to get an idea.

Thanks G, just the answer I was looking for... :thumb:

Was not sure if they offered two different styles... or just a fabric change..

Your welcome. Enjoy

I would like to throw my Quadratek soft top away. What a piece of $#it. :flipoff: I hate it, compared to a Sunrider top. Good thing it was with the Jeep when I purchased it.

The premium top material is beautiful, ive had 2 other jeeps and this material is like real convertible material has a cloth feel to it rather than the vinyl feel. as I am worried about how it will hold up in the elements though.

I will most likely buy a new Best Top Super Top NX. It does have the Sunrider feature which I'm not fond of. But I have found them for $888.18 shipped. Been trying to find a new take off, but can't find anything close. And shipping would kill any savings. So I guess a new one is in order. It looks like the hardware and brackets look like the factory stuff.

Ones on Craigslist going from $650 and up. So a new one is less hassle and will be delivered to my door. So it sounds like I have talked myself into it..

I don't get why anyone wouldn't want the sunrider. It's a complete bonus. It makes 0 difference to the way it folds all the way down. no one forces you to use the sunrider.

Right and the 2 dr tops are much more rare than the 4 dr.

You are most likely right. I might like the sunrider after having it. And like several have said, you don't have to use it.

Ya not the nicest. Was having a bad day, though I'd check some jeep forum action. Went south from there. Lol.

Interesting how some forums on the Internet have thicker skins than others... This one can be pretty thin sometimes.

Agree...and I could care less honestly. Just figured if we could all be a little nicer, why not? We share the same passion...

$888.18? You need to look a lot harder.

(Like right here)
Bestop 5682335 | Trektop Nx for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 07-11, Black Diamond

Bestop 5472335 | Supertop Nx for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 07-11, Black Diamond

I ordered my Trektop NX (4 door) and it was like $650 delivered...but I had found a super-duper sale (like the one I just posted). However, I never took it out of the box....I traded it for a new-in-box Premium top.

tupper 07-10-2013 07:54 PM

I wasn't sure I'd like the suntop either, however, after using it a few times when it looked like it was going to rain or I didn't want to take the entire top down, I really enjoy it........ I can open up and get more sun while waiting for the red light to change green!

wrangler49009 07-12-2013 09:29 PM

That Trektop looks like a great deal. I like the way it contours at an angle in the back rather than the boxy look. Are there pro's and cons to both styles?

The only time I use the sunrider feature is when I'm sitting in the Jeep at lunch under shade and want to air out the heat a little quicker than just rolling down the windows. I've only driven with the sunrider open twice. Once with the rearmost window out and the top fluttered and once with the window in place, no flutter. I'd still rather drop it all the way, or just take the windows out for a safari top feel.

viperx6x9x 07-17-2013 02:29 PM

I was considering a sunrider for my TJ actually. We have so many sudden rain showers here, and i have a really short commute to work. No point taking the top down when i leave and putting it up when i get there. I thought it would be nice to just flip the front piece and have a quick sunroof and some open air for the commute. It's not even a long enough drive to get the AC going good.

Amazon has the Super Top Twill for $1132. Not bad.

OK,
Just remember that you still need a factory header bar, factory door surrounds, and a factory tailgate bar with the Rampage version.

I'm in sunrider mode 90% of the time....and I have no flutter regardless of the rear window being in or out. My favorite mode is sunrider and no windows, but with a 3 week old, I keep the windows in now.

I also have a 4 door and a spiderwebshade.....so that could be the difference. On a 4 door, the sunrider is open over both the front and rear passengers....so being in sunrider mode really opens it up....and the SWS keeps it cool.

I'm in sunrider so much, I've stopped latching front (when parked) unless it is going to be a hard rain...and I've also stopped strapping the bars down on short trips.

Ooooooooo... Yeah!! That sounds like it would jack the price up And become a pita! Thanks for pointing that out to me. Guess I have to go with the more expensive model
