trade in value for 2013 sport

what can I expect to get for my 2013 sport with 7,000 miles? interior looks as good as the day I bought it and still has the new car smell. once I replace the bumpers the exterior will be as new also, other than my windshield that has about a thousand tiny chips in it.

way less then you think. I have a 2013 unlimited sport that is as new and dealers tell me it is is pretty much worthless because it is too new. Now when you go to buy one they tell you resale is awesome but go to trade or sell and take a 6000-7000 hit lol. Apparently on 2013's they give you about 4000 less then actual dealer cost minus the hold backs so dealer cost is even less then we know.

kyle4uscav 07-10-2013 01:46 AM

that is about the price I was thinking. I'm just looking for enough to pay off my current loan and to give a little cash for a trade in. thanks

Newt1234 07-10-2013 05:51 AM

Just curious but why are you looking to trade it in? Upgrading for more jeep maybe?

kyle4uscav 07-10-2013 06:09 AM

yeah I want to get a rubicon with an auto trans. im getting kind of tired of the 6 speed.

4X4Lady 07-10-2013 07:06 AM

I traded in my 2013 6 speed 6 months after I bought it and the dealership completely paid it off for me so I could buy an automatic. Definitely shop around!

I am sure the dealer would love to pay mine off as I put about 1/2 cash down on it, they would make out like a bandit lol.

LOL....I didn't put anything down & still owed $23,500 on it & they paid it off, so I was happy :) I also had 7,000 miles on the Jeep when I traded it in. They currently have it sitting on their lot for $25,500....you can buy a brand new one for that :whistling:

zerinS4 07-10-2013 08:28 AM

They'll always pay it off, gladly. You'll just get stuck with the negative equity (if you have any) in your new loan.

Definitely want to avoid negative equity. That money will follow you forever.

michiganadam 07-10-2013 08:39 AM

Wish i had a 6 speed....

zerinS4 07-10-2013 08:47 AM

Yep. Always best to pay out any negative equity in cash if possible, though most advice I've ever given on negative equity goes ignored. And then they wonder why they are upside down 4 years into a 5 year note.

never get upside down on a loan! so many people (not saying here, just in general) are and it blows my mind.

Nope, no negative equity here! Complete payoff....trust me, we went over all of the figures very well before we signed.

dizzymizzy 07-10-2013 10:22 AM

You lose $$ the instant you drive off the lot with it. Normal auto-related depreciation for new cars.

firehawk 07-10-2013 01:32 PM

What to expect on trade

:dance:HI, I WOULD EXPECT ABOUT $22.5K HOWEVER IF U KEEP IT ANOTHER YEAR U STILL COULD GET ABOUT THE SAME $22.5k IT MAY
be best to keep it another year..let us know.

ORBIT 07-10-2013 02:00 PM

For whats it's worth, I paid 30k out the door for my 2011 JKU Sahara. After 18 months i traded it in for a 2013. They gave me 26900 trade in value. Both were with Chrysler Employee discount so there should have been no over allowance.

Travis64 07-10-2013 03:52 PM

Never trade in always sell it yourself and make 3-5k more

TeraFlex 07-10-2013 04:16 PM

If you trade in you only have to pay taxes on difference and not the whole loan which can easily suck up any additional money you made by selling it yourself. As the other guys have said if you can stomach it for another year you will be better off. The problem is they wont give you as much for it since it is still so new and they still have 2013's that are new sitting on the lot and people are gonna want those before a used 2013.

kbaum03 07-10-2013 04:29 PM

Agree with Teraflex!! In most states you pay sales tax on the boot paid.

yacc 07-10-2013 04:34 PM

I'd imagine about 30% less than invoice. I figure they could give you 30% less than new invoice, turn around and sell it for 15% below invoice to someone, and make 10% after expenses. I cannot imagine they would give you any more than that for it, there would be no money to make. So, take invoice of the Jeep and whack off a third, and thats prolly your trade in value.

In my state, you pay 7% sales tax, so I'd have to be able to sell my vehicle for 107% of trade in value to come out even. Sometimes that's an easy call, sometimes a bit harder.

I always take my trade vehicle and get a quote from CarMax, then use that as shopping power for trade ins with the dealer I'm buying the new vehicle from, and also as a yardstick for general value of the vehicle. You can always fly it for sale on Craigslist for a couple of days to see what the market will bear, then make your move.

I always wonder about a current model year vehicle on a used car lot. The ONLY way I'd ever be interested in buying one would be a HUGE discount over new. Otherwise, I don't want someone else's germs in my new car. Buy new.

Just traded my 2011 unlimited sport for 2013 OM Commando green the dealer gave me 24,500 had 19,000 miles on it auto 3.73 rear and not much else they swapped my rampage bumper and 2013 wheels/tires and put the OM originals on my trade in so somebody is getting a new factory bumper and new wheels and tires on a two year old jeep
