Big bear CA anyone?

Hey Nevada,

After doing some browsing from something close but a little different I've decided to take a trip to big bear. Wanting to do the deep creek trail and a few others while in Big bear. Thinking about a travel day and 2 days of trails.
I am currently posting in CA threads and forums to find us a local that can show us the entrances and routes to take.
If anybody has any interest in joining post here and we can try and get some dates and planning started. Hoping for Aug. but depends on our trail guide.

Week Days or Weekend?

I have been wanting to go over there for a while. Keep me posted on when you think that you may be going, so I can figure out if I can make it.

My inlaws live there and we go quite often. Probably head out there in a couple weekends. I need body armor before I hit John Bull Trail or Holcomb Trail. So many trails an roads there. Here is the gate keeper at John Bull

I'm thinking a weekend in August but again I just came up with this plan. So I am completely open to suggestions from anyone. So far my idea was to travel Friday & meeting up with those who are traveling to attend. If we get enough people attending I will call around and see if I can get some discounted rooms.
Saturday trails in the bright & early morning then maybe some and night depending on the crowd & experience of spotters.

Sunday maybe one early morning trail and traveling home by noon?

Again open to ideas lol

O it looks awesome! I've read that those are two of the harder trails. Do you think I could get in contact with them and ask them some questions about the area?

Cheers,
Mike

Love to go!!! I am in the middle of re-gearing the YJ. Just got the second axle out of the shop so I got to get working hopefully have the D30 back in the front and then get to modding the rear found an 8.8.

I have furlough days set up so hopefully it will match up with the dates.

I'm in. My wife and kids are up there this week and we will be going there next month. I watched some guys going into Holcomb and body armor is strongly encouraged. Saving up for some now.

I say get a map at the Big Bear Vsitor Center and go for it. Just bring a decent spotter and have rock sliders at the minimum. Wife got back today from BB. We will head back up in a few weeks.

TTORA is having a big run down there August 10 and 11. I'm heading down on the 9th.

CFR Marine 07-27-2013 02:13 PM

stillcrazydave 07-27-2013 09:22 PM

Not sure. I will donate if needs be. I hope they have a few small groups. So many roads trails and technical stuff.
