TeraFlex Budget Boost Install Experience?

1 Attachment(s)
Somewhat Handy,

Getting ready to install the BB. Do need some assistance. Uncertain what the parts are called, however should both these parts come in pairs? Going through the Component Item Chart isn't so helpful if you don't know the names of the components/parts. Your help is appreciated? Looks like I should have two pairs of each?

The long pieces are your front shock extensions and the little spacer is for your rear track bar drop bracket. You only need on of those.

What he said. /\ /\ /\

Don't forget to install the small piece in the track bar relocation bracket. It is all in the installation instructions.

Good luck with the install and post some pictures after you are done. :)

I installed mine last weekend. About 5 hours by myself. It was easier than I thought.

There is a good video on Youtube that you can follow along with. Just search for
Teraflex 2.5 BB.

Some tips:
1. Before you lower the rear end reach up to the bottom of the tub and free the emergency brake lines from the bracket. No tools needed just twist them out. This is not pointed out in the directions.

2. I put the Jeep up on jackstands and then used 2 hydraulic floor jacks to lower and raise the axles as needed. If you have access to a lift like they show in the video that would make it a whole lot easier. In hindsight I should have gone on base and rented a stall at the auto shop. It would have cut out a good hour.

3. Pressing in the rear spring spacer - I cut a 12" piece of plastic shopvac hose (the hard piece not the soft hose) I put this between the axle and the spacer and used the floor jack to press the spacer in. You will know what I mean when you get there.

4. You can use the same method/tool on the front bump stops.

5. Torque, torque, torque... Have a torque wrench and pay attention to the torque values.

6. After you complete the install your steering wheel will be off center (slightly to the left). Loosen the two 15MM bolts on the drag link and roll the whole clamp assemble forward 3/4 of a turn. Tighen it down and drive it around to check for center. If it is still off: Forward roll moves the wheel right, backward roll moves the wheel left.

7. Don't lose your 18MM socket inside the framerail. Don't ask me how....

Later down the road when it is time to replace the shocks I plan to just buy the longer shocks and get rid of the shock extensions.

Good luck!!

Did you get your lift installed?
This is mine with the Teraflex 2.5 BB W/shock extensions. (Before the 17x9 and 35s)

Mr Bill gave great advice, particularly the shop vac hose to press in the spacers. This was the hardest part for me. Since I did it laying on my back in the driveway I didn't have much leverage to push them up.

I used a block of wood and a jack, but his way sounds way better. I had to reposition the hunk of wood a couple times to get it to pop in. Here is mine stock and after the lift. Made a huge difference since I had the skinnie-minnie 29's!

tok it looks great!! thats the tf 2.5 with shock extensions? How is ride affected? i assume 35/1250 17? Looks great man I just got my 13 jk and looking to get this done soon, i cant stand it stock lol. My third jeep and going back to ground level is hard lol.

TOK 09-04-2013 04:08 PM

Thanks Drock! I upgraded to the longer shocks with the kit rather than using the extensions. Forget what the price difference was, but I don't think it was huge.

You're correct on tire size, 315/70/17 Duratracs.
