Stupid deer

So I was on my way to work and from outta nowhere BLAM hit a deer. The only damage is the corner of the fender is caved in. Any ideas how to pull it out?

jeepingchester 07-11-2013 08:18 PM

WatchThis! 07-11-2013 08:19 PM

good excuse for those new flatfenders you've been wanting!

mountainneer 07-11-2013 08:33 PM

Also x2 for the flat fenders...

... The biggest buck I have seen in my life was one I took out with a 2500. The hp wouldn't let me take it, but the tow truck guys went back later and grabbed the front to mount!

BTW, I was just talking to my buddy from up-state NY and he told me that back home that deer were considered "property of the state" and NY paid for any damage resulting from hitting one!!!

My state would be broke tomorrow!

Bayouwolf 07-11-2013 08:49 PM

Try using a hair dryer (or a heat gun set on low), and a wide bladed extra long screwdriver.

bcsnave 07-11-2013 08:52 PM

Wow..I am glad you are ok

June 17th 2011 I was on my Harley Ultra doing 65 and outa no where.....BLAM...a deer hit me. Down I went..came out of it with road rash and a scuffed knee....4 stiches in my shin..

Gotta watch them in Wisconsin....June is the worst month for deer crashes

as for... Any ideas how to pull it out? ....grab it by the neck and the rack...and yank on it...should get that deer right outta there:)

I don't know... he said that technically it was illegal. It was my first question. Here they collect them and take them to the food bank.

That seems like a nice thing to do, Yeah here roadkill is free game there is even a roadkill cook off every year. :hide: ok now I'm ready for the WV jokes to start

Tweak 07-11-2013 09:30 PM

I had an interesting hit. The deer jumped in the middle of a 2 lane just as I was approaching a car coming my direction. I hit the head and the car hit the rear end. Deer spun like a top and tore up the whole side of my silverado.

glad you made it out OK!

I worked about 8 miles out in the country at a sand plant where they separate rock and sand for concrete mix. We worked at night, overnight, and the deer were all over the place from 10pm to 3am. There were times when patrol came by and checked in on us, they always joked about how they were waiting for the deer in the road and wanted to hit one so they could make some jerky. They weren't kidding either, my one supv used to bring out all sorts of deer jerky. She and her husband went hunting for elk and whitetail or mule deer every year and she would carve it up. Nobody in my unit ever hit a deer though, it's like they knew we were hunting them with our vehicles.

JeepJitters 07-12-2013 04:22 AM

Nope, don't think it was a trophy deer as all I seen before this hit was a deer a$$ :) I am ok...just pissed cause it ain't even been a month from buying my jeep. Haha to the one who said yank it out.... I have no idea if it was even still alive I ran it over with the right tires, so who knows...pics, yeah I'll get it posted today. Thanks y'all oh and the one who said the heat gun and the screwdriver, my HTB said that already...prob try it this weekend.

I have a feeling that is going to lave some white streach marks behind. Hopefully not. Sorry about your luck and good luck with it.

Crushed 07-12-2013 07:28 AM

Im no body guy, but if you went to a body shop and didnt mind a hole they could maybe use one of those stud pop rivet dent pullers.

I would take the bumper of and hit it with a rubber mallet from the inside.

To big of a dent won't come out completely, $$75-$100 for a new one off Craigslist. People are throwing stock bumpers away

WhiskeyMike 07-12-2013 07:35 AM

Should be able to find a take off for cheap. Check craigslist.

Looks like a good excuse to put on a new bumper and winch.:D

JeepJitters 07-12-2013 07:43 AM

Can't use rubber mallet. The bumper is solid. I thought about the dent puller. And I'm really thinkin of the new bumper/winch!!

Michel347 07-12-2013 07:45 AM

Or cut each ends and put end caps ?

Now your thinking! :thumb:

Yesterday I backed up and forgot I had my trailer on. Yea... stupid but it happened. I whipped it back to get a better angle on leaving and slightly jack knifed it. Put a cut and a deformation in the passengers side rear bumper cover. Much like you did on your front but cut some of the little deformation area thats on each side. So first thing I thought, after I realized nothing else was hurt... Time to start rethinking that rear bumper!

I like my Warn Elite front bumper by the way.

kurtz265 07-12-2013 08:11 AM

wish you lived closer, i have a front bumper off a 2012 sitting in my backyard. Free for the taking!

Jeepin Bowhunter 07-12-2013 08:20 AM

Sorry to hear man. I think even if it pops back, it won't look as new, but I am not a good body and fender guy.

I was on the way back from Missouri a half hour into a five hour drive in my 94 Sahara. Two does made a break for it and I hit the second one hard. It was at dusk in the middle of nowhere and I knew I had lost one headlight and was afraid of losing the other one and thinking she may of damaged the radiator. I told my bud we were going to try and make it into this little town a couple miles up the road. We got some really weird looks from a couple cars we met. Made it into town and get out to see the damage. She was still there impaled on the front left front bumper and tow hook. Her head had swung into the grill and took out a headlight. Since then tow hooks have been called doe hooks.:) So basically we picked up a doe and gave her a ride into town.;)

Roadkill Cafe

You kill 'em, we grill 'em.

TrueNorth 07-12-2013 11:40 AM

Sounds like a perfect excuse for a full width steel bumper with radiator guard.
