Driver Side Door Won't Open

About a year ago, some genius chiseled my door lock off trying to break in. Aside from not being able to unlock it from the outside, the door still worked properly. Last week I went on vacation and when I returned the lock had completely seized and now I cannot open the door at all. Anybody have any suggestions on how to get it open? I'd take the inside panel off but it is largely impossible with the door closed. I can get at some of the internal mechanism through the old lock hole in the door. Thanks in advance!

Same thing just happened to me Thursday. My lock froze up in the locked position and couldn't open my door from inside or outside. I managed to take the panel off with the door closed from inside (it was a royal pain but is possible) and released the lock mechanism. Probably should have fixed it or somehow disconnected it, but will just leave it unlocked.

So it can be done? I don't even care at this point if I destroy the panel. I'd like trail doors eventually anyway but I can't seem to get ahead of repairs because of stupid stuff breaking all of the time. I might just take a razor to it and cut the panel off.

Had the same problem so I picked up a new latch loop on ebay (the part the door latch locks on) and took a Sawzall to the old loop. It was nearly impossible trying to service the door internals while it was closed.

Also a great idea!

What I really want is a pair of element doors but they don't appear to have a canvas bottom. I honestly don't need the metal cover because I'm moving to a warmer climate soon but I'm not about to drop a grand on these doors when I can pick up the originals for much cheaper on ebay. Argh!

At least for me, but I don't have all the screws in the door. But you should be able to get to them with a torx bit and 1/4 drive ratchet. Had to be a bit of contortionist laying across the seats, but give it a try before you resort to destruction.

I received an email from Davies Jeeps about a used jeep door and it only read "do not have." Talk about to the point.
