New Tires Installed - how to reset sesnsors, mph, and mpgs
2 Attachment(s)
I finally got some new shoes for my Jeep.

No longer am I merely a stock owner. As I was leaving the shop, I swear I heard it whisper to me "I'm a real boy, I'm a real boy!" The other Jeep owners seemed to look just a bit longer as they gave me the wave, and they didn't have a sympathetic look on their faces anymore... But I digress.

A few questions. I had them transfer over the sensors from the stock wheels to the new wheels - 16x8 Pro Comps. But the tire pressure warning on my dash has been lit for the last couple days still. Is there something I have to do to reset it? Or does it just take some time?

Also - the speedometer is off a little. About 4-5 mph at 35 mph, and more at higher speeds. And so the mpgs are off, also. Is there anything I can adjust to get those correct again?

yes and no...and FWIW this information is from threads here on the Forum.....need to either buy a PROCAL so you can reset for the proper tires or take it to dealer and have it done......IDK about the tps but think they can be "adjusted" at same time.

With the Procal you can adjust for the larger tire and adjust the computer for the psi for the sensors.

I use my Procal when I air down to adjust the sensors so they won't go off. After I'm done wheeling I return the sensors to the psi I want.

Cool, thanks for the help. I found one online for 160, but I don't offroad so it'd be more of a one-time-use for me.

Dealership said they'd do it for 30 as long as the aftermarket wheels didn't affect it. They said something about the sensors not being compatible with some wheels. Taking it in Monday to have it looked at

im a crew chief at discount tire. if the light is flashing you either broke one or the battery died, if its solid follow these steps. if you have the pressures staggered (40 rear, 35 front) your light will kick on so make sure they are all set at 35 for P metric (P 255-75-17) or 40 if theyre LT tires(LT 255-75-17). if youre only running 4 tires and no spare the light will kick on. and if none of that works, come to one of our stores and have one of our employees reset your system, it will only take a few minutes of your time. and dont let them charge you, we do it for free at my store so have them do it for free as well

and the whole "sensors not being compatable with some wheels" is a load of BS, just the dealer trying to make money off of you
