Fast blinkers after smoked housing and LED lights installed.

Hey guys I purchased one of those $80 kits off ebay for smoked housings for the blinkers and fender parking lights. I believe this is the link to the product.

I also purchased red led lights that go to amber when you hit the turn signals. Just installed them this morning and it looks great but now the blinkers work normal for the first 5 min and then go to the fast blinking the rest of the time when the blinker is activated. Does anyone know what I would need to order to fix this small problem?? Thanks !!

LEDs do not draw the same current as incandescent bulbs, so there is typically a resistor that needs to be added. The reduced current draw makes the system act like a bulb is burned out.

I can't tell you exactly what you need or how to do it, but that is the basics.

Thanks. I kind of thought that might be what was going on but was not sure. I'm pretty bad with this kind of stuff so hopefully someone can link me to what I may need to add or maybe I should just take it to a stereo and alarm shop and they may be able to just finish this?

I highly doubt that this blinker video will help to solve your particular problem, but you never know. It's not a JK, but the procedure should be the same, or at least very close.

Replace the stock flasher with an electronic flasher relay, like the ones at SuperBright LEDs. They do not have a minimum load, so you can mix and match regular signals with LEDs and everything will blink normally. No resistors needed.

I bought the motorcycle version from them because the rear signals on my bike are LED and it has been working fine for over a year.

OP. I see from your profile that you're from New Jersey. I thought blinkers were only in Wisconsin vehicles. When I moved to Illinois 30 years ago, I had to have my blinkers replaced with turn signals. That was quite an adjustment.

Around where I live they are just some extra lights that rarely ever get used, from what I've observed. I don't think most drivers know what that extra handle on the steering column is for.
