Wanting to throw a 2 inch lift on my 99 TJ

Hey you guys this is my first post on here. My 1999 jeep wrangler is all stock and looking to make its first upgrade. I'm wanting to put a 2 inch lift maybe even a 2 1/2 inch lift. I was wondering where's the first place I should look and/or any suggestions on where or which lift I should get. I use my jeep as my everyday car but I go wheeling every so often. I also go to the dunes about twice a year so I would like a lift that would work perfectly with all terrains. If you guys could help me out a bit I would greatly appreciate it.

I would say just get a 2 inch coil spacer lift they are way cheaper than any other lift you can find them for about 50-60 bucks and then you can get new shocks and that will still give you 2 inches of lift and save you a bunch of money

I have a stock 2000, I am about to buy a BDS 2" coil spring lift kit. I am sure my springs are worn and I know my shocks are shot. So, for about $400 I am getting four new coil springs and shocks.
My gut tells me it will give my current ride height 2.5" of lift and a much improved ride. Pretty much what I am looking for.

I have the Rubicon Express Budget Boost. It uses coil spacers and comes with new shocks and bumpstop extensions. I don't think you can beat it for being good value. The spacers are 1.75".

I had alot of fun in the dunes with just a 2" BB, stock shocks, disco'ed, with 31" AllTerrains

Hey thanks you guys I really appreciate it. I think I will be going with the coil lift and buy new shocks. Thanks Jeep Fam.

Good choice, especially if your "99" is on it's original springs. If you want it a little higher down the road, you can add a small body lift later.

Does anybody have any coil spacer recommendations?

They are all about the same. I've got Rubicon express. 1.75" spacers on mine, no complaints.

Spacers are all pretty much the same. Just look for the kit that has the best shocks. Or find a kit w/o shocks (just spacers) and get ome, bilstein, or rancho x9000s.

I'm by Newburgh and I might possibly be selling a RC 2.5" lift. I'd even be willing to help install if need be

@all...so i'm a noob but have been completely addicted since buying my rig 2 wks ago (was addicted to looking for a rig previous to buying it). Here's my question. I have a '97 that came with a 3/4" body lift and 31s. I like the look, but actually want to use the jeep. I'm sure that all other suspension components are original. I like the idea of the coil space lift with upgraded shocks. I really don't want to get into full on long arm flex lifts at this point (just don't understand them well enough).

so, here's where the fam comes in.. can someone give me a link to a solid coil spacer lift that includes the names of all the parts (ie. coils, shocks, arms or whatever). From there i can start putting together a solid setup.

thanks homies

This is basically all you need if you are looking for a complete BB kit:
1.75" Coil Spring Spacer System J1

Coil spacers
Front and Rear Bumpstops
Shocks

bighamms 07-31-2013 04:00 PM

@DEXTREME..would you recommend new coils as well?

thgr8alex 07-31-2013 05:28 PM

Unless your coils are really old and sagged id just keep yours. If you want new coils then forget the spacers and get lift coils. But if the spacers are the method you wanna go just keep your coils and put the spacers on top until you decide to get lift coils. Your stock coils should be fine

Since yours is a '97 it would probably benefit from new coils..."if" you don't get chinese steel ones like Rough Country or SkyJacker.

BDS, Zone, OME make good coils in the 2"-3" range
