Brake Fluid Leak

1 Attachment(s)
When I took the Jeep outa the shop for a drive to the lake I noticed the brakes felt mushy. I checked the fluid and found it low. After I came back to the shop I noticed a puddle where the rear passenger tire had been. I took off the wheel and found what I believe to be the brake cylinder leaking. It would be the cylinder shaped item in the middle of the pic. Question 1 is that the correct name and question is it fairly simple to replace or should I take it to a repair shop?

Yep, that's it. After removing the hardware and brake shoes, just two bolts in the back, and the brake line. You should be able to pick another one up at Napa or another parts store for not too much. You'll have to bleed that wheel cylinder after you're done, or if you let the fluid get down to the bottom of the master cylinder, you should bleed them all.

I actually just replaced both my wheel cylinders 2 weeks ago, one was leaking so I went ahead and replaced both along with the brakes. I had the right tools and the help from my dad who used to be a mechanic. If you don't know what you're doing I suggest taking it in somewhere because it's easy to break the brake like when taking it out of the cylinder if its real rusty, and if that happens you will have more problems than just a leaking wheel cylinder. If you know how to do it or know someone who does that can help you, go ahead and change it yourself, its not too hard.

You can get them out without removing everything too. You need to pop the spring off so it'll move enough though. Super easy to do!
