Rear track rod broken - rare or common?
Jeep was handling poorly and had a knocking coming from under the rear while driving to work today. Climbed under and found the rear track rod had broken (weld) away from the rear diff. Is this a common TJ issue or rare?
Is there a fix to prevent it happening again or do I just weld (repair) what's there?
I appreciate any input here.
I hate repairing same thing more than once so anything that needs doing I would rather address it now and not need to worry about it happening again, maybe even on the trail.
damaging the bracket off is common in areas with lots of rust, or with a lift & relocation bracket.
weld on a better bracket, or repair the damaged weld on the stock one and reinforce it to the axle tube.
