driveline vibration dampener help
I got a 04 tj with a np231j. it had a vibration dampener on the slip yoke where the driveshaft attaches to the transfer case. I foolishly kicked it off while pulling my tranny to change my clutch. it was pressure fitted on with a rubber ring between the two metal pieces. even though I can realign it it's vertically impossible to put on without a machine. the local shop tell me i need to balance my drive shaft. (i dont think they realize the vib dampener isnt part of the driveshaft) was anyone had tjis problem? if I have my driveshaft balanced do I need the dampener? do I have to get I towed to another town to have the d&@# thing put back on?
