90 with full 70's GM drivetrain

A couple years ago, I picked up this Jeep for $500. I have previously wheeled a mildly built XJ for about 5 years that finally needed to be laid to rest. It has a blown small block 350 mated to an sm465 with cobbed up manual clutch linkage and an np205. It has gm 10 bolts front and rear. I'm assuming all came out of the same mid 70's gm truck, but who knows. I had to pick it up at that price and the wheels and tires are worth $500+ alone.

I am looking to start tinkering with this thing and would like to find a solid place to find info to start. I was thinking of finding an auto to swap in as I am no master of the the manual transmission. But was also toying with the idea of keeping the manual and swapping in a hydrolic bell housing. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

it just depends on your preference..I have had both and I prefer the automatic.I currently have 2 cj7's with full chevy running gears and they both have 350 turbo automatics

I know that 70's gm parts and trucks are hard to find these days, especially a th350 with np205 already attached. So if I were to find a 350 with th350 somewhere, what else would I need to attach it to the np205 I already have attached to my sm465?

I would also like to find a TBI 350 truck I can use. I don't mind swapping out the ECU and related wiring, I just don't want to have to buy expensive adapters and such. Anyone know of a stock motor/tranny/tc combo that will be close to the same length as my current setup?

I have the chance to buy a 92 Chevy pickup. I want to put the motor, tranny and tc from it into my YJ. Anyone done this with this era truck before and can give me advice about it?

You'll have to get you a different front end if you get anything chevy 88 and up. They are driverside drop transfer. But if the truck is cheap you could get what you needed out then sale the body to get funds for another front end.
