Aev 2.5" lift kit questions

For all you guys running the AEV 2.5" Lift Kit, is anyone running the stock wheels and tires? If so, how does it ride? How does it look? Could you post a picture or two from the front and side so I could see how it looks.

I have a 10A JKUR and really like the tires and wheels.

Any issues with the factory front swaybar disconnect when installing the lift? Close to buying this kit, just trying to figure if I should get bigger tires right away or not.

Thanks.

I don't have the kit...but this is the one I think I'm going with. If you google/image "2.5 lift" with 32's....33's....35's....you'll be able to see more pics then you could imagine. Let us know what you choose!

AEV started in my home town and their R&D facility is about 4 miles from my house. I get to see lots of AEV vehicles and with stock tires and wheels 2.5" lifts look funny in my opinion. You need at least 33" tires on rims with a bit less backspacing. Very nice people at AEV that put out quality stuff. I have a friend who put the 2.5" on his 12 Rubicon 2dr and tried running stock tires/wheels and they did not last but a few days before going to pintlers and bigger tires. It is all personal opinion tho.

Thanks for the help, you are right about the tires and wheels. I don't think I could hold back on buying the tires too.

i got quicker disconnects and control arm brackets.

Charslo, yours look great. Thanks for the pic

Make sure you do the geo brackets. These make the biggest improvement of on road feel.

There are 99 pages of pics of this lift on the AEV forum. I have also been looking at pics of the 10th Anniversary on this lift with stock wheels and tires as that is what I plan on doing until the original tires wear out or most likely just long enough to save little by little for a set of wheels and tires with the ultimate plan of going with a Duratrac or like tire for it's slightly better all season performance and the fact that realistically my Jeep spends 90% of it's time on road at least. The Duratrac 315/70-17 is 34.4" but really wide I think like a measured 11" tread and 12" or more inch section width. I may go with a Cooper tire also but looking at the Cooper ST MAXX 285/70-17 but they are 33" so would also look at the Duratrac's in that size. Duratrac in this size is 54lbs so relatively light and that will be one of the driving forces to my selections. Larger diameter tire potentially smaller diameter rim trying to keep wheel tire combo weight similar to stock.

I am also very close to purchasing a lift and right now it's between the AEV and the Rubicon Express. Still doing nightly research.

speaking of AEV, I just went out for a run and this was parked in my neighbors driveway. I wonder if he bought it.

Doctorsti, will those duratrecs fit on the stock Rim?

Not sure actually, tire rack says recommended rim width is 8.5" but others may know better on the forum.

I have 315 Duratracs on the stock wheels... no problems. Remember, there are folks that run swampers on relatively narrow wheels... I do have 1.5" spacers though.

In hindsight, if they would have had the wheels I wanted in stock I would have gone with them... next year...
