Hello all I have a 2006 tj I have a grinding noise in the front driver side. It's not the tire and my ball joints look newly replaced. I just bought it a few weeks ago. It is lifted about 3" and has 33" tires on it. This is my first wrangler so I'm still learning. I'm thinking this could possibly be u joints?? It started out just when I was braking and that was last week now it does it sometimes while braking and while I'm driving down the road. Any suggestions as to what it may be would be very helpful I can't get it in the garage for a few more days.

Welcome to the forum! Have you checked your brake pads? Your description sounds like it could be metal on metal.

Possibly I will have to check when I get off of work.

If its u-joints. Sounds like birds chirping. Bearing hub assy. Will be more of a grumbling sound. Can jack up and try moving tire up and down to check hubs. Or pull tire move up down. I had a wheel noise. Turned out to be break caliper piston was slightly frozen engaged. Not enough to get hot or smoke breaks but enough to cause noise but the noise was like sharpening a steak knife and speed related. Just swapped out a new caliper. Changing a hub assy. Little more difficult to get the thing off. So be 100% before changing a hub
