About OEM Doors:

Hey guys,

I wasn't the first owner of my Jeep, so I'm not sure how it originally came in '91. I always wanted full doors, but when I got the Jeep it had the 1/2 doors and soft upper. They both are a pain to deal with, and they are always drafty and leak water.

I would just like to know a little more about the different configurations the YJ's came in when it comes to doors. I would love to upgrade to full doors, but I'm not sure which year to buy, or if they'll fit my hard-top or soft-top. Was it a premium to get a YJ with full-doors? Will CJ full doors fit a YJ? Do the windows roll up or slide back? I've never actually dealt with them or know anyone that has them. Thanks :)

1976-1986 Cj doors will work, the 76-80 ones will require a door striker instead of the pin our yjs have. Any year yj doors will work also

My full doors are off an 80 cj7

the soft top factory half doors had square corners. the full doors that come with the hardtop are round and cane be used on the bestop supertop soft top. CJ/Yj full doors will work on the YJ. a TJ door will work but with modification to the door pin

What kind of mod does it take?

You must change the door pin on your YJ to a striker that is found on a TJ. I have seen it done before. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...EYhy1vUAowJp4v this a TJ striker.

I have CJ doors (with the turn handles) but I have been unable to find the strikers that they use... Any suggestions?

Yeah I've looked around. The problem is I'm not exactly sure what the striker style is called. I know it's a striker but I haven't found anything that look remotely close to working.

are they OEM full doors or aftermarket?

It took me 3 months to find the actual OEM part used on eBay.

These are what u want. Very easy to make, and cost too much $ when u do find em

Wow thanks for the info guys. I didn't realize that the full doors were so expensive! :(

Also, do the windows on a full door slide or roll down?

Do the strikers on a YJ with half-doors work with the full door from another YJ?

tigerblood 07-23-2013 02:37 PM

Yes and yes

They are expensive I finally found some after 3 months of waiting and looking at Craigslist daily I found a hole jeep with full doors and hard top for 800

Are those a pair that you own or is that a picture you found online? If they are yours can you take a few other pictures and give some measurements so that I can make a set?
