$500 coupon delivered after jeep purchase

I think Chrysler is nuts. I requested a brochure from Jeep a month before my jeep purchase. It arrives a week later($500) after I take delivery of my jeep. It is valid till august and dealer says no-go.

Why do they even bother sending it.. so late.

Postmon 07-23-2013 05:50 PM

Ditto. :(

Dragonscape 07-23-2013 06:00 PM

so you can not use it; they get great PR at your expense

Iowajeep 07-23-2013 06:29 PM

Exact same thing happened to me. I got my coupon about a week after I bought my JK. Bad break I guess.

jadmt 07-23-2013 09:15 PM

what was the time between requesting the brochure and getting the certificate this time around? Last year I requested a borchure after reading about the $500 Certificates and I waited at least a month if I remember correctly and never got one but I told my dealer l was waiting for one (at that time I thought it was automatic that you got one but found out later it was not) he said he could look it up in the Chrysler computer and sure enough he said I had one and said he could just copy the number from the computer which he did. I am back looking at a new rubicon and sent for a borchure about two weeks ago so wonder if I will get one again. I might note that if the dealer looked he would have been able to see you had one coming and the $500 does not effect dealer in any way shape or form so it is too bad they did not look for you.

5 weeks. I got the coupon after I signed all my papers and tool delivery of the jeep... but could not use it.

donmeca2020 07-23-2013 09:34 PM

i wonder if they do this on purpose. i requested the brochure literally a month or so back. my father received one but no $500 coupon. i have yet to receive my brouchure.....

Afmcronnie 07-23-2013 09:40 PM

I got $1000 coupon. Used it when I bought my 2013 JKU. Life is good.

cbguns 07-23-2013 09:46 PM

Sorry.. the coupon is tied to the person who applied for it.. name and address. The dealer can look it up on a central system.

Good deal Afmcronnie!

panthermark 07-23-2013 10:02 PM

When you are issued a coupon, your name is in the system. I wonder if some shady dealers are not mentioning the coupon, but still using it?

WhiskeyMike 07-23-2013 10:53 PM

I ordered the brochure last October, bought in November. Got a $500 coupon with brochure two weeks ago, good through September. I thought it was odd that it came 8-9 months after purchase, but wife wants one, so great! Unfortunately she only wants hydro blue which hasn't come out yet so I won't be able to use it. :banghead::facepalm::surrender:

It is probable.

Aeschylus 07-24-2013 12:48 PM

I had the same thing happen.

I started requesting brochures back in January when I ordered my 10A, knowing it would be a few months before I actually got the vehicle. I requested multiple brochures and received no less than five different sets in the mail, but none of them contained the 500$ coupon.

Took delivery the first week in May and within three weeks, I got the 500$ coupon ... just out of the blue, without requesting any more literature. It is almost like they knew, heh.

Simliar to how you would feel if the dealer came after you for extra money after the sale, because they forgot to charge you before you signed. Once the deal is done, its done.

With that said, I think it was just unlucky timing. I got that $500 coupon a year after I bought my Jeep. I doubt that Jeep's marketing team is targeting its campaign to recent purchasers. If anything they want to get ahold of people whose lease expired or are in the market for a new vehicle.

I got my coupon for $500 literally the day I signed the paperwork, but before I picked up my title. My salesman not only agreed to just have the dealer write me a check for $500, they doubled it to $1000.

I guess I got lucky.

Afmcronnie 07-24-2013 09:17 PM

My coupon was for $1k. Came in a brocure for Ram trucks, but said it was good toward the purchase of ANY Chrysler product, except Viper or SXT vehicles.

CouponPages 07-24-2013 09:47 PM

Ford did the exact same thing when I requested a brochure in 2010.

Meanwhile, I have requested a brochure at least 3 times since June and still no brochure. First class mail takes only a couple of days. If it takes more than a month to get a brochure, it makes you wonder what they are thinking.

If they also send coupons, the delay may be deliberate. As someone in the coupon business, I hate when companies put up hurdles to use their coupons.

luck of the draw, not sure what the odds are.

ColoRubicon 07-25-2013 12:35 AM

This happened to me after I bought my Jeep, when they called for their survey I mentioned how this came after my purchase even though I had requested it months before. Each time I was contacted from Jeep I mentioned this.....in the end after several follow up phone calls from an extremely helpful customer service rep., we worked out a deal for free oil changes for 6 years.

JimmEC 07-25-2013 12:38 AM

I got a key chain in the mail after my purchase.

Turbostixxx 07-25-2013 01:00 AM

And I got a bill for my loan payment after my purchase...

Turbostixxx 07-25-2013 01:04 AM

May I ask what the issue is?

Say you have a 10% interest rate (which is rather high a lot of times) so on that extra $500 you have to pay you pay a total of $50 in interest...if we are being stingy over $500 why did you buy a $30-$40k jeep to begin with? *sigh* first world problems

I don't think its being stingy. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have $500 in my pocket than in the dealers. That $500 can be used for other things like lights/tires etc...

OR, you can show us where you got your money tree so we can plant one in our backyard too.

bluehash 07-25-2013 07:53 AM

^This. $500 saved can be used in a lot of stuff - IRA, stuff around the house, food etc. If it were $50, I would not mind
