Jeeptober!!! Oct 5th & 6thLets start planning.

Well now that July is almost over it's time to start our fall run thinking. Last year we all decided that October 5th & 6th would be 2nd Annual Running of Jeeptober. Well it guess its time to start our discussions.

Last year we had ideas of getting some t-shirts done. This year I want to try to get this done. The guy down the street has the equipment to make them for us. I need an original design that we can put on the shirts. Hellcat03 had one last year that was cool. I am hoping he will pop back in with that design. :thumb:

Stickers are also a possibility too. I can see what we can get them done for too. We will need a design for them too. I will try to get a price on this as soon as we can decide on a design.

Trails :thumb::punk::wavey::dance:

As usual we will be doing all levels of trails from mild to wild. To change it up a little it was thinking of these trails. Keep it to 3 so we don't have everyone going crazy everywhere.

#1 Chinaman's Gulch. This is a great trail for lifted Jeeps. Lockers are not required but recommended. A lift of some kind is highly advised as there are some areas that clearance is an issue. 32" tires minimum is also asked. This can be a fun trail for both veterans and rookies. As you know I "BV Jeep" will be trail leader on this one. :nonono:

#2 Mt Antero. This is a great trail for all Jeeps, lifted or not. All you need for this trail is 4wheel drive. Easily done in a stock vehicle. You can go to the top of the trail at over 13,000ft, come back down and go to Brown's Lake, Then back down the trail and then go off to Baldwin Lake trail and them back home. This is a good day trip with tons of scenery. The Baldwin trail will be your bumpiest trail but it is not impossible at all. :wavey:

#3 Grizzly Lake, Ironchest Mine and possible Pomoroy Lake. Great trail for the mild dirver. I do recommend a lifted Jeep for this trip. Grizzly Lake and Ironchest Mine are not recommended for a stock height Jeep. The entrance for Grizzly is a rock ledge that can challenge even the best of us. Ironchest is about a 1/2 mile of a boulder field that will keep you looking for the best line. Once past this it gets back to a normal 4x4 road. Then if time allows you can go up to Pomoroy Lake. This is anoter great trail that goes to the lake. You will go past the Mary Murphy mine and then continue on to the lake. This trail there are no real concerns about having to be a big Jeep. :thumb:

I have thought of these to keep things changed up. If you have any ideas of what we all want to do just comment on this page. We will need trail leaders for trips 2 and 3

Maybe for a last day trip we can go up to the Mineral Basin up past Cottonwood lake on Sunday. This is a great trail for all rigs. We can be done and back to town by 3pm easily.

Let me know what you think

Sounds good...If I'm around that weekend I could lead #3...now that I've done Iron chest and Grizzly, haha. I will say that grizzly obstacle gave some of us problems. Thanks for the directions to the trailhead Doug !

It will be nice to see you Ed.

Hellcat03 07-28-2013 09:55 PM

Alright hopefully we can make it this time lol.. the wife is making a better drawing this time and once were back from vacation she will be working on it... I'm gonna start looking into give aways as well. May even see about the bar/restaurant allowing bands.. my band or the wife's band... gonna try and make this a bigger event then the one I missed lol

BV Jeep 07-28-2013 10:14 PM

The State Highway Theater here in BV held our deal for Set Them Free. Lots of room and they have bands all of the time. I will try to get the number. They have plenty of room. The only thing I have to say is that the food choices are limited. We could do a big BBQ there. The other place that would be big enough is back at the Coyote Cantina in Johnson's Village. They have room for a band also. They might have a better menu choices. I don't want this to turn out to be a pay to come event. Buy what you want and do as you please.

Looks like GSPup will be a guide for the Grizzly Lake trail.

We're in....we've had it on the calendar since last year.

Colo-TJ 07-29-2013 09:18 AM

Sounds like a great time to me.....count us in

Hellcat03 07-29-2013 09:25 AM

Yeah were gonna make sure it's a no pay event.. if it's my band I'll put them up in a hotel and pay for gas.. no worries on that. Let me know on the locations

JOCJK 07-29-2013 12:34 PM

In.
I'll probably camp in the same area I did last year overlooking the collegiates if anyone is planning on camping.

G-Rocc 07-29-2013 11:18 PM

I'll probably be in as well.

The wife and I are in just trying to decide if we are going to bring her trailblazer and the popup or just getting a room for Friday and Saturday. We'll have to leave pretty early Sunday because I have to work Sunday night, but after hearing about last year we are excited!

BV Jeep 07-30-2013 05:30 PM

A quick note on our Saturday night meeting place and BS session.

I talked to the manager at the Coyote Cantina this afternoon. This is the same place as last year. First of all they are good with us bringing a band. They have room for one if we are able to have Hellcat03s band come in. They will comp up to 5 of the band members meals for that night. For the rest of us Happy Hour is from 4 to 6 which has 1/2 price appetizers. They will also give us 15% off all regular priced entrees and if we can come up with a favorite cheap beer they will try to get us a deal on a beer for that night too. For the most part we will have the whole back bar area to our selves. They will also throw in 2 T-Shirts as Door prizes.

The person who owns the Coyote also owns a motel. The Mountain View is on the highway north of the light. They will also give anyone in the group 10% off their room for the group. I am not sure on pricing for that weekend. I also have never been in this motel either. I can go look to see what the rooms look like if you want me to.

I am also going to try to see what kind of deal we can get at the State Highway Theater. This is the place where the Set Them Free weekend was. I don't think they have as many food options but I will try to find out.

Let me know what you think of the Coyote Cantina.

Thats a given :thumb: I think we are going to grab a room and only bring the Jeep. I'll look into The Mountain View when we do.

Doug, do you know if they allow dogs at Mountain View? If they don't, its not a big deal, as we'll just go with the Super 8 again.

xxximpact05 07-30-2013 11:26 PM

Were in

vince.parker25 07-31-2013 12:36 PM

Since I'm new and have missed EVERY event so far. I'd love to get in. How many people attend this? Sounds like a great time. Maybe we will bring both jeeps. Do you think our cj8 could be okay on these trails?

Colo-TJ 07-31-2013 01:49 PM

I'm good with the Coyote. They have been good to us in the past and it has worked out pretty well.

Justin04Lj 07-31-2013 01:52 PM

If I can figure out my winch I may be in. Not sure which trail.

Last year we had about 25 jeeps. The trails range in difficulty so that way everyone can run what they're comfortable with. We had a handful of stock jeeps (including mine) there last year that ran with no problems.

You wont need the winch. Besides you have 2 months to get it fixed.

^ This.

Justin04Lj 07-31-2013 05:03 PM

2 months of seeing my jeep like twice.

MRBILL4203 07-31-2013 08:52 PM

Is there going to be a limit to how many people can attend? I too have missed every event this year and all the group wheeling trips, and would love to come and meet some local guys and hit the trails!!

Oldguy 07-31-2013 09:26 PM

Doug, can you find out if the Mountain View has smoking rooms?

BV Jeep 07-31-2013 09:47 PM

I will give them a call. As for number of people I really don't see a limit yet.

xxximpact05 08-01-2013 07:13 PM

I'm fine with either dining location. But the coyote seems like in may work out better especially with parking for all the jeeps since the highway theater is right on main st. What is the weather like down there in October?
