Engine mounts

Hey guys, my engine mounts are pretty shot and I wanted to replace them so I stop breaking my exhaust. Suggestions on best way to remove and replace? 91 2.5

I did mine one side at a time. I used a floor jack with a piece of wood under the oil pan. Lifted the engine just enough to remove the bolts and swap them out. I did have to remove the alternator on the passenger side to get the main bolt out. Really not a bad project.

Don't forget to unbolt the transmission from the skid plate, that'll give you some leverage in jacking up the engine. Check the brackets too, otherwise this will happen:

That is a picture of a broken motor mount bracket. On both side of my 2.5L engine there are cast brackets that are in between the engine and the motor mount. They break under stress.

Go to Brown Dog and look at the after market mount bracket and motor mounts. They work and the warranty is the same as the products bulletproof.

Ouch, pain in the ass to replace in guessing. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

As said earlier loosen them all, driver passenger sides and transmission, just loose, not completely off. Jack up motor gently then remove and replace one at a time not tightening completely till all done. Be a good time to do the trans mount because if the motor mount bushings are shot most likely the trans is too. Easy job to do, and will make a big difference
