Reliability question

This is the year. I'm finally in a position to get a new car in the fall and it's going to be a Rubicon....the two door variety. I see the '14s have a good range of new colors to choose from...and that's good. I've test driven them and love the new engine and amenities.

Many of my friends react to this with, "Ack! A Chrysler product! You'll be in the shop all the time!" Consumer Reports does little to alleviate my concerns.

So, what say you? Is this thing a maintenance nightmare, or are they overreacting.

Even though Consumer Reports typically hates Jeeps because they are far from a normal vehicle, they rated the 2007+ models very highly in reliability. I have owned 2 Chryslers ('98 Sebring convertibles) prior to my Jeep, and they both fared very well in reliability. Sure, they needed some work once they went past the 8-10 year / 100,000 mile mark, but what vehicle doesn't? Any vehicle you buy will spend time in the shop at some point, but Jeeps are far from being 1980's Hyundai's, Audi's, or Yugo's. Beware of broad generalizations.
