My Jeep is a Mustang KILLER!!!

So I'm running around today trying to clear post (officially OUT of the great United States Army in a couple days :( ) and I come around a corner only to be greeted with a BRAND NEW Mustang (not a GT) convertible in the middle of the street!! It was a gorgeous car (even though it wasn't a GT like the one I have sitting in my parents' heated garage!!), royal blue with white racing stripes, black convertible top. So I hit his ass. Yep. Head-on. Hard. I tried to stop, but the old girl wanted to kiss that pony right on the hood, so she did. The roads here at Fort Riley are COVERED in sand. That's their idea of traction control when there's ice. Too bad there's no ice, and because of that sand, I DESTROYED some guy's car. And get this, it gets better. It wasn't just some guy......it was a SERGEANT MAJOR's car!! His wife had just given it to him a couple of months ago. It gets better (can you believe it?)........he's the NCOIC for the local JAG office!!! I destroyed the JAG SGM's Mustang!! I feel horrible for the guy, especially since HE GOT A TICKET to add to his pain. The local MPs ticketed him for being in the middle of the road!! Talk about adding insult to injury!! Anyways, just thought I'd share. The poor guy. I really do feel bad. Especially since there is ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER TO MY JEEP!!! I put my winch through his hood and ripped a hole in his hood with one of my towhooks. I need to straighten the license tag on the front, but there is no damage at all to my Jeep!! Crazy. Looks like my Jeep has a new name.....she'll be known as CHRISTINE from here on out!!

I took some pics with my phone, but I have Verizon as a carrier and there are NO Verizon towers in the area, so I can't send pic msgs to my e-mail to post here on the board. I'll try to see if I can get an uplink cable to load them directly onto my computer. Pain in the ass, but will be worth it once you all can see the carnage Christine inflicted on this poor Mustang. What's even worse, is that I have a Mustang as well. (Only mine's a GT!! :D ) Now I know they're not the hardiest machine on the road!! May as well be a Pinto.......

Great story.

You stated you're out of the service in a couple of days?

Yeah, it's bittersweet. Part of me is ready for the next challenge, and part of me wishes I could continue hunting for Uncle Sam. My injuries will heal to the point that I SHOULD get most of my range of motion back in that leg, but the strength will never be there as before.....so instead of a desk job (may as well just OFF myself before THAT happens) I opted for a medical discharge. It'll be a couple of years of physical therapy before that range of motion will get to where I want it. I figure surfing in southern Cali every other day while I go back to school should be just what the physical therapist ordered!!

I should finish clearing in the next couple of days......that is, unless my Jeep decides to kill another car or two.....that might delay me a day or two!!

After that, it's a month in Costa Rica/Panama, then back to Cali to look for a place to live. I want to be down there by mid-late spring at the latest so I can get situated well before fall semester starts. The good news is that I won't have to work if I don't want. I can focus all my time on school. However, I'd go nuts if I wasn't doing something fun, so I might check into some of the local dive shops to see if they need any part time instructors. Good stuff.....

You have a great plan lined out there. You deserve it. Thanks for all you did for our country.

Do you get to keep your Barrett?

We've already had our tearful goodbye. I do dream about her sometimes. That's not weird........

Ohhhhh......if you insist. :) I'm looking forward to it. Our Jeeps are almost twins, you know. Except mine's evil to the CORE. Maybe it's those Punisher stickers on the tub?

Gracie. Amazing Grace formally. I always called her Gracie. We shared alot of time together. I really do dream about her. My callsign was Lone Wolf. Everyone else in the sniper platoon called us Wolf & Grace. (We were known as the Wolf Pack....among other things.) That's about all I can say on a public forum. OPSEC is a bitch. Sure do miss Gracie. I tried to get the Armorer to let me have her, but Uncle Sam keeps an eye on his big triggers. Bummer. :(

I appreciate your thanks and believe me when I say that it was an honor to serve this country and all of its people. I'm sure that all of the current and post-military types here on the forum would agree. I've had some awesome experiences in the Army, experiences that I couldn't find elsewhere in the civilian community (excluding Triple Canopy, et al....). I've also had some painful experiences, but they were worth every bit of pain just to get to do the fun stuff. :D

Crazy story. Poor fella's car. Glad the jeep faired well.

And Congrats???? On getting out. Wish We could of wheeled together but things happen.

Good luck MR. cavey.

Yeah, I thought about making it straight again, but figured I'd just bend it again on some rocks. That poor plate has had to be re-straightened so many times. Every time we passed a Mustang today, I could feel Christine want to go eat it up. She's had the taste of blood and wants more. :firedevil:

4point 01-29-2009 07:45 PM

Hey, some of those Mustang guys pay big bucks to get that hump in the hood.:D

It's almost completely stock, other than the hood scoop, and to be honest, I don't know how much longer I'm going to have the car. I never drive it. It lives in my parents' heated garage while I'm at Fort Riley, 90 miles away. It's an '07 with less than 8,000 miles. My mom has expressed some interest in having it, so I might give it to her. That might make my dad jealous since he just sold his '70 Mach 1 about two years ago, though.....oh well. I got a great deal on the car, but it's an automatic. (My left leg is the one that had all the damage, so clutching was a no-go at the time of purchase.) We'll see....I might take it with me when I move to Cali, but I might not.

yjwrangler 01-30-2009 06:03 AM

yeah my dads mustang is a 5 speed and although it is a 4.0 its still fun to drive!
so you hit a car head on? how did you drift over to hit him?

jgano23 01-30-2009 10:07 AM

I have a few comments.

3. Wow, Christine did some real damage.

2. Very Nice Mustang

most importantly

1. Thank You for selflessly serving our great nation and for keeping us safe every day while we don't even realize it. :)

I came around a corner with limited visibility and he was in the middle of the street. What you don't see in the picture behind the Jeep is the row of hedges that make that intersection tough to see through. To his defense, there were no turn lanes on his road, but there wasn't enough room to make it to the right of him. Plus, Christine skidded forever on all the sand, then headed straight for the front of that car like she could smell the blood!! I like the picture of Christine glaring at that Mustang......like "What, you want some more of this?!?!"

Yeah, crappy day for that guy. He gets his car all smashed up and towed away, then he gets a ticket while I drive on away and continue running my errands like nothing even happened.
