Help!! Need timing belt instructions, for 2.4L 2003
 
I'm going to try to replace my timing belt. Anyone know where I can find good info? I've found enuf bad stuff already. Autozone,yuk!

2003 2.4L timing belt....etc.

Wish I could help. My 2.4L 2004 timing belt went bad a while back.
I thought about doing mine but I've never did one and it looked too big a pain for me.
I ended up buying everything at Advance Discount and had a shop install it.
Total price for everything was $365.

I'm sure someone on here has the info you're looking for. Seems like they always do.

You need a factory service manual.

That's a good price. They have a kit that replaces the tensioners and water pump. I'm thinking I might do that.

I do need a service manual. My nephew can walk me through any issues by pic's and phone though. And I've rebuilt motorcycles and a 4 banger Scout many years ago.

Just looking for someone who has gone through the same situation.

I replaced mine not too long ago and couldnt get it timed correctly. Had to have it fixed at the dealer. 200 bucks later she was good as new

Sometimes you can find a video walk-through on YouTube. I watched a video a couple of days ago on how to change the rear seal on a 4.0L engine. Do a search and see what you can find. Good Luck.

Havent done one in a Jeep yet, but heres the info from the service manual if you wish to download it. Saved it as a microsoft .xps

Wow! Thanks man, I bought a manual (Haynes) and your info blows away the Haynes. Great help and I hope to return the favor someday.

Best to get a account at www.alldatadiy.com. It is cheap, very good info. It is what a lot of shops use for repair info. It is one of the best bumper to bumper aftermarket service programs available. Online programs like this are far superior to paper manuals because they are constantly updated. Complete step by step instructions for most repairs with photos and diagrams. This is the only system that I know of that lets you purchase the info foe 1 vehicle. Well worth the money. In my opinion anyone performing there own repairs needs this. At less than what $20 per year, how can you go wrong.

You can watch a video 20 x and you will still need a manual to know what bolt torque, pictures refering to pully mark alignment, etc. A Haynes manual is only $17.00 from 4 wheel parts online, or $ 26.00 at a parts store- and you can refer to it for anything else to be fixed in the future. You may get lucky and find one for your Jeep at a used book store.

Crap! Brole off piece of damper pulley.........
 
Yep! Chrysler 3 legged pulley and one of the arms broke off a piece of the pulley lip. Must not have been on all the way or something. Now I'm stuck.......and have to pull a rabbit out of my hat to get the harmonic damper pulley off the crank shaft.

Put the puller on and put a hose clamp around the legs to help hold them in. The puller may pop off a few times but with some determination you usually can get it off. I have had more than 1 of them break on me. Just part of life some times. Cant let it get you down.
