Miller Jeep Trail 8/24/13

I’m planning a single day run up Miller Jeep Trail on Saturday August 24th. :D

Meeting at the Flying Js truck stop in Frazer Park at 8:30am fill up with gas and snacks and leaving by 9:00am to the trail head. The Flying J is located at 42810 Frazier Mountain Rd, Lebec, CA 93243. Air down at the trail head and hit the trail somewhere between 9:30 and 10:00am.

You will need drinks, lunch and all the normal trail gear. If you have never done miller before, there is one hard obstacle that if you don't have a locker you might need a tug. Armor is recommended if you don't have a lift.

Post up if you want to come…

First Time...

Hi, I've been wanting to run the Miller Jeep Trail for a while now but I havent been able to find anyone to do it with me, would you mind if I tag along . I have a JK Rubicon Bone Stock :punk:, I've read a couple of things here and there that I should be able to make it. I've Ran Proghorn trail in Hungry Valley but I'm sure that's much easier than Miller.

No, that wasn't me, but it will be me this time...lol anyhow, you mentioned "the usual trail gear" I would imagine a first aid kit, a tall jack and a fire extinguisher maybe a shovel, but what else will I need?

Recovery points front and rear. A CB, air compressor and recovery gear is recommended.

Ok, I have the recovery points, would a regular 2way radio work, I have a motorola walkie talkie set that I've been using. Working on recovery gear, and air compressor, should have it by then, and the cb too unless I can use that walkie talkie.

Walkie talkies don't normaly transmit on the same band as citizen ban does.

GKjeep 08-14-2013 05:25 PM

Ouch, now that all that was mentioned, I might not be completely ready. I do have d rings in the back but only the hook points in the front. Still havnt gotten a high lift jack or cb radio. Also havnt bought and recovery straps or anything. I have a very cheap air compressor that should work though. I would hate to be the guy everyone has to help but do you guys thing ill be able to join? Or should I just wait until I have the budget to buy everything?

Dammit! Ok I'll get me a CB, I may need a second tow point in the back. How important is that? If the trail could be handled no problem by a stock rubi...

What's on your rig? do you have a lift or locker? If its a Rubi you be fine. Open difs and stock ground clearance are a bit more difficult to clear the last obstacle but it can be done. I have seen a stock Subaru AWD make this trail. my buddy does all the time in a stock LJ with open difs, 33in tires and a 2in lift. There will be plenty of high lifts and straps on the trail and a CB is a luxury so you know what going on ahead of you. We need you to have front recovery points or the stock jeep hooks to help you get unstuck.

Front tow points are required, if you have a stock Rubi there a two hooks above the bumper that works. Rear tow points are to help your buddy over the obstacle you just cleared. One rear will be fine.

I hope I'm last then, cuz I feel sorry for whoever needs MY help! If its just a luxury then I may just go without the CB. I'll still get the other stuff, and if I have enough money I'll get the CB.:appl:

I have a 04 rubicon 5 inch lift with front and rear lockers. The upgrades on my jeep replace my lack in experience:)

Thanks. And if anybody needs a CB radio I have a handheld I can bring for them if I can find it.

Gunner 08-15-2013 05:57 PM

What channel and where are we gonna meet? Looks like I am gonna make this shindig. I just ran it not to long ago and it is a nice fun trail. I did it in my stock 2.5 YJ and only needed 2 tugs on my first ever time out jeeping. In my Rubi it is a cake walk. Now watch me high center.
