I've been looking for a newer TJ for a while now. I want one that's black or red in good shape with less than 100,000 miles and unmolested lift wise. I want a hard top and an automatic transmission too. Today, I found this one on Craigslist. 2006 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4x4
It's at a dealer that's about 160 miles from me. I called today and it's a small dealer in a small NE Oklahoma town. The guy was super friendly and said he has had it on his lot since May. He told me that he paid too much for it and nobody has wanted to buy it. He told me that he paid $14,800 for it and that's what he would take. The tires look like cheap tires, but they'd do for now. Does this one look like a good deal to you guys? I'd have to finance some of this and my credit union pre-approved me for it. I can't get up there until Saturday so, I figured I'd see what you guys think before I go drive all the way up there and back. Does it look like a good deal?

If its what you want, then its a good deal. If you keep it 2-3 years minimum you should be able to get your money back out of it. 14,800 is not a steal or a deal. It's about as high as I would go if it had the D44 rear. I would jump on it at 13,500 and be ok with 14k. If you can find one, get an LJ. Just my opinion that may or may not get flamed by somebody who got the same jeep as that one for 6k....... :)

When you get new wheels and tires I will buy those from you at a decent price. Wild Peaks are good tires.

You must be semi-close to me. That one came up when I was doing a search for one. LOL It peeked my interest, just not enough to drive that far to check it out. (I live in NWA)
Never drove it or looked at it, though.

I'm in Edmond, OK. It's a suburb of Oklahoma City. I just haven't seen anything else in my area recently that has really had me interested until now. There's always some sort of issue. I'm kind of picky in what I want though.

wild peaks are pretty good all terrains .. not to cheap... jeep looks nice ... i'd spring for an older model and you would have more money for mods

Yeah. I'm not looking to do a lot of mods right away. I do want a newer one with lower miles. I just got back from my bank with the check. Getting ready to go drive up there and check it out. Maybe I'll bring it home tonight! I'll be pissed if I get all the way up there and there's something wrong with it.

Good Luck, I hope it works out for you. I would check that tranny and make sure its not slipping, make sure the reverse is good on the tranny, check for leaks, make sure the A/C gets cold, listen for tapping engine noises, and check the fluid levels. It's always a good idea to have a mechanic check it before you buy it.

I bought it! I know my way around a vehicle and checked it out thoroughly. This isn't my first 4.0 either. I had a 96 Cherokee a few years ago. I couldn't believe how nice this thing is! The paint looks brand new. I looked it over again when I got home. I can't find a dent, ding or scratch anywhere. The interior is great too. It runs great, shifts great and drives straight and smooth. I had to drive it 160 miles back to the house on the highway. Very easy to drive. It was a lot better than I expected it to be. No unusual vibrations or anything like that. Fluids were full and looked great as well! I'm glad I took my time to find one that was exactly like I wanted. I'd say that at $14,800, I didn't get a steal on it. But it is exactly what I wanted and so far, I am very pleased with it. I don't mind getting an average deal on one when it is as nice as this one is. It's beautiful! The only thing, is the plastic fenders are a bit faded. I'll be taking care of that though. I've had a lot of vehicles over the years. I don't think I've ever been as excited about one as I am with my Jeep!

I just cleaned mine, taped and papered them off, and sprayed them with Rustoleum Satin Black, Paint and primer in one. Mine look great after one year.
Overspray won't even be a problem for you because your car is black. But, it is probably best to remove them and spray them.
Congrats on your new Wrangler.:thumb:

Congrats as well. I hope you enjoy it.

Everybody thought i was nuts to think my TJ was worth $15,000 or close. Ordered brand new and had only 4000 miles on it, and one with 80,000 miles was worth $14800? I had Dana 44 with 4.11 gears.
I prefer TJ's over JK's. I like my TJ more than Jk.
