Dirtworx Rear Bumper Installed

Finally found the time to get my rear bumper and tire carrier installed. Got this from DirtWorx. They do an amazing job. Not only is it a very heavy (And heavy duty) bumper, but everything is very well fit. It has 10 connection points to the frame and crossmember. Price is good too, under $500 (As shown) with shipping.

Donny - Other than the time it took to manufacture it and the broken off wheel mount, did you have any other problems? My turnaround from ordering to my door was around 20 days. That is because I had him customize where the D-Ring mounts went to accommodate my longer spring mounts. As for the wheel mount, mine looks like it's pretty solid. How heavy is your wheel/tire combo?

Dennis that looks fantastic. I never noticed the chain steps before let alone the license plate. Your ride keeps getting better and better IMO

I'm hoping to be done with it completely in the next few months. V8 is ready to go in.. just need time to do it.

I just might have to take a ride to Clearwater to see this beast in person. The 8 is going to put it over the edge. BTW I also just noticed the rear view mirror is gone. With the tire mounted on the rear you couldnt see a damn thing behind you anyway.

Thanks for sharing

I was actually going to build a custom mount for a rear view mirror and get one of the extra-long ones that can see from multiple angles. You're right, though, the tire really does block a lot. My side mirrors are being replaced next week with some new harley mirrors. My existing ones are pretty banged up.

Any time! I drive it throughout Clearwater and Largo all the time. I'm all for meeting fellow Jeepers for wings or burgers or something.

Yup. The stock jeep mirrors leave a lot to be desired. I did this really inexpensive 'mod' to the back of the visors which works well for me. Flip the visor down and my rear vision increases to an almost 180 degree panoramic. Makes driving on our six lane highways more comfortable for me.

I had no other problems except the spare breaking off. I do feel it is a great product, but feel there were weld problems in that one area. I go into some real rough country it's rattle holds the stuff I need. Robert is very slow at getting things out, bumper is to be shipped after 14 days of payment mine took over forty, even getting the replace ment part took over 30 days. If you look at my pictures the new parts is made better and should hold up to everything

BCDonny 08-11-2013 12:02 PM

I forgot to mention your jeep looks great!!!

87YJnTX 08-11-2013 01:32 PM

looks great.....my only concern is how are the straps to keep the fuel cans in ?

You are aware that shipping from the US to Canada takes a lot longer which would make you replacement parts take longer? Not trying to be a smart ass here, it's just every time with my work shipping anything to Canada takes about twice as long.

Could that be the reason it took so long? Just saying.

I ordered my Dirtworx bumper on a Monday and picked it up the following Saturday, not to shabby in my book and BTW I love my bumper!

The times I mention are the time it took just to ship, not to get to Canada when they say they will ship within 14 days from cleared payment and it takes over 40 days before it ships there is some thing wrong the replaced part was not shiped untill after 30 days after he said he would replace it.
BTW I long my bumper also, it is just his service that sucks

nicks_yj 08-11-2013 10:37 PM

The side step chains are bad ass are the rockers custom

O_M_Jeep 08-11-2013 10:45 PM

I dropped off of an 8' drop in Moab, the tank skid took a little of the hit but my Dirtworx took most of it, came down right on the tire, this is what happened to it -

http://i854.photobucket.com/albums/a...1/IMG_7053.jpg

Still wheeled for 3 days after that, got home and took out the insert the spare bolts to and sent an e-mail to Robert, he had me a new one at my house in a matter of days (less than a week), he also had mine from time of order to my door was less than 14 days. I got almost what I paid for it when I sold mine (I'm running without any rear weight for awhile), and in my book it is a solid value, a solid bumper and solid armor.

He was a lot quicker shipping mine. Then again, maybe mine was a fluke :D

I have a set of can straps, but I can't figure out how to make them work. For now, I've just used some bungies. That seems to be holding it.

Yeah, those are custom. Made of 1/4" plate and 2" x 1/4" wall tubing. I bounced them off a Silverado at 50 MPH and they survived without even a dent.

My Dirtworx bumper is one of my best purchases, but I guess there will always be a few problems. Your jeep looks awesome, would enjoy seeing it in action.

Planning on it. My son is due in the next 2-3 weeks. Once he's born, I'll have to take a bit of time out but plan on wheeling again later this year.

Congrats on the arrival of the new baby. After my daughter was born I also said "I'll have to take a bit of time out"! Didn't know that meant until she left for college:banghead:

Although I'm not a fan of that bumper / carrier at all - the rest of the jeep looks bad ass - my gf wants me to build her a zombie killer - I showed her your pics and she jizzed...
Great looking package!
