430N RHB Updated with Garmin City Navigator 2014.10 NT

Has anyone purchased the Navteq map upgrade? I am wondering if this is similar for the Junction Views.

I recently updated my 430N with Garmin City Navigator 2014.10 NT Americas. I also added the large junction view file. I am not sure if this junction view is the same as would be included with the standard map update. It has a TON of junction views now:

It even shows the Toll lanes! :thumb:

Does this appear the same as the Navteq update?

I downloaded the Garmin files myself and and loaded them from a thumb drive. This is not the Navteq update. It does have all of the updated roads and new POIs. There are a LOT more junction views. I am wondering how it compares to the update disc from Navteq (Jeep).

Thinking about loading he 2014.40 release...may not be worth it for now.

Could you PLEASE explain to us in a bit more detail the steps you made to update the MyGIG 430n to the CN 2014.10? Did you only load the gmapsupp.img file into the USB or...? I'm sure everyone will be very thankful to learn this trick. Thank you. :Thanx:

If you downloaded the files from Garmin, they are the Navteq. That is where Garmin gets them. And those Junction Views have been on at least the last 3 or 4 updates to maps. Your unit must have had a really old version.

No, I always had junction views as well. They just added a LOT more. There are several different JCV files you can load, I just picked the largest one. I am working to update it again now. to 2014.20 or 2014.40.

Still trying to update the basemaps so I can get updated terrain.

do you just put the img files on a thumb drive?
also does it copy the new files over? or do you have to keep the thumb drive on there?

Yes, put them on the thumb root like this:

Garmin\gmapprom.img
Garmin\JCV\D3060110A.jcv

Make sure the USB is formatted in FAT32.

Loading Garmin City Navigator 2014.20 NT with newer JCV as we speak. I am loading the "large screen" hi-res junction views this time to see the difference.

Loaded the HiRes version of Junction files and an unreleased version of maps. The HiRes looks 100x better than what I posted above!

joeg679 08-24-2013 11:54 PM

Is there a way to have the dealer do this?

Didn't work out for me either... PLEASE help us out!!! :surrender:

Radar1 08-26-2013 12:28 PM

I loaded the GMapprom.img file from a thumb drive. System saw it and asked me if I wanted to update? Hit yes, 20 minutes later it asked for a pass code. I don't have one so it failed. May have to bite bullet and buy from Navteq

kash 08-26-2013 12:44 PM

The type of usb drive matters also, the first few i tried it with didnt work, finally got it to work with a kensington one. I tried to do a base map update but that failed, and i dont think it updated my JCV either, will try again later :)

kash 08-26-2013 07:16 PM

just a quick q again... redid the update, the white box said pnd updated, but then the garmin box in the background said it failed.. does that mean it really failed?

Kevlars 08-26-2013 10:02 PM

ya no luck here

YOu need to generate the code. There is a tool that can do it for you with your radios ID and the map ID. It will generate the key. I dont have my other computer with me, but I think the program was called Checksum or similar.

I've done some research and apparently it's called "JetMouse". I'm not sure, haven't used it myself.

JetMouse will unlock your .img file. CheckSumFix will provide the code needed to install the maps on a device.

Radar1 08-27-2013 04:31 PM

I used the Jet mouse to get the key Generator and the Protected Garmin file toolkit to get the FID number. Generated a few serial numbers. Second one I tried worked. Map is updated! Junction views not. I will try again but am happy with my result. Thanks for the tips:)

Radar1 08-28-2013 08:45 PM

Tried again to get the junction view to work all I get is the PND update failed message :banghead:. I used the same thumb drive that I used to update the map, so I know it works. Any suggestions, would be appreciated. Thanks

THUDDOME 08-30-2013 06:03 PM

I did get the 2013.30 update to work but 2014.20 didn't. Playing around with this I noticed if a formatted the thumb each time it seemed to make a difference. I'm a tech guy, I'll figure this out and post results. Does anyone have instructions from Garmin on how to install the additions? I'll find something.

THUDDOME 08-30-2013 06:09 PM

Check this out - GARMIN ADDITIONS FILES (ASR, G2S, DB, 3D...) What & How to update.

THUDDOME 08-31-2013 09:46 AM

First things first, here's what I'm working with:
2012 Wrangler COD MW3 with 430N RHB
Sandisk Extreme 16GB Thumb Drive

Alright here's the deal, first get you a good fast thumb drive. The reason I tell you this, is it's pure torture to sit and wait for a slow one. Here's my results:

Installing 2013.30 - Successful
Installing 2013.40 - Successful
Installing 2014.10 - Successful
Installing 2014.20 - Failed

Okay as far as additions go, I installed high res junctions only successfully once. here's how I did it:

1.) Format thumb drive to FAT32
2.) Create folder named "Garmin"
3.) Copy gmapsupp.img into Garmin folder
4.) Rename gmapsupp.img to gmapprom.img (lower case and yes it matters)
5.) In Garmin create a folder called "JCV"
6.) Copy D3060110A.JCV into JCV folder

This worked for me using the 2014.10 IMG File and the 2014.20 Additions JCV file. Doing both at once was the only way to get the junctions to install for me.

I'm going to figure out how we create these IMG files. I suspect that's why I can't get 2014.20 working.

I am highly interested in this thread as well. So far, I am not having much luck doing mine. I don't have a DVD with the required code. The ones I generate are no good. The version of JetMouse I found is a bit out of date.
