2006 Wrangler PCM Replacement/auto trans issue
2006 Jeep Wrangler X 19,600mi.
I have been having issues with my automatic transmission shifting when its cold. It only does this for about ten minutes at low RPM's. It shifts hard from first to second an sometimes doesn't downshift back into first. I currently have no check engine light or codes showing up in OBDII system. I have read quite a bit about this and it seems to be a common problem with 06 automatics and replacing the PCM has worked on many of the people who were having the problem. I have tried almost everything else, sensors, trans flush, etc so I figure it has to be the PCM.
Here is my problem. I can't find a PCM. I have called a lot of the computer replacement places on the internet and they all say that 05 and 06 PCM's are hard to find. Plus if you do a search on the companies they have horrific feedback. I don't want to take it to the dealer and pay close to a grand. My jeep has only 19,600 miles but it is most likely not covered under warranty. It has been too many years since new and I am the second owner.
If anyone has purchased one or know where to get one please let me know. Thanks.
I just got mine from my dealer. Drives great.
I had to take mine to the dealer for my 06 rubi when it had the same issues, paid around 6 hundred and they had to flash it to my vin number. You might still be eligible for the warranty...not sure but I think I read that the mileage on the coverage of the pcm was 80,000.
