Canceling extended warranty

I want to cancel my extended warranty so I went to the dealership yesterday to do it but was told that I would have to come back and do it anytime Monday - Friday. Does this sound right? I was under the impression that you can cancel anytime. I just don't want to get the runaround when I go in during the week.

Just out of curiosity, do you pay extra for this extended warranty? And was there anyone able to deal with your request on a weekend? If there was, I'd say your getting the run around.

I did pay extra for the warranty and after some thought I've decided I didn't need it so wanted to cancel it. When I went in I asked one if the guys at the desk to cancel my warranty so he proceeded to make a phone call ( I'm assuming a supervisor can only do this ) and was told that I would need to come back during the week do cancel.

I betcha the reason they told you to come back is to have a supervisor "attempt" to change your mind. Prolly just a part-time sales jocky just working the weekend shift and didn't have the authority to do it for ya since they had to call the sup' on this matter. (just guessing here).

You might actually have to contact Chrysler to do that......My first Harley had the extended warranty and 6 months in I wanted to cancel it......I was directed to the head office to get it done. Ended up sending them the request in writting. Not sure how jeep does it.

I bought one and cancelled it, it was a mon-fri thing, it wasnt the manager I had to talk to, but someone that worked in the office, wasnt any hassle or trying to change my mind, I cancelled it and then had to wait for the check to be cut, that took a few weeks because it had to be approved my the dealership owner and was only done at certain times.

Thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for. Just wanted to be reassured that I wasn't gonna get the runaround next time I visited.

I bought one from a Nissan Dealer to cover a Jeep Liberty that I bought used...finally after threatening legal action I got my money back. Their mission is to wear you down with all the hoops to jump through...don't let them wear you down!!!

Yep, this is how it went for me and I have done it twice before. Its not a big deal just needed to be done during the week so that the right people were in the office. It took about a week each time for me to get a check I just swung into the dealership to pic it up. No hassle, no questions just signed the form and it was done.

I bought one and wanted it canceled. I went to Jeep customer service first - because I know dealerships will waste my time trying to re-scam me - and Jeep customer service went to the dealer. The dealer called me and said come in to sign the cancelation. I did, and it was done.

someone in the F&I dept can process this for you, and if you still have the original loan it usually gets paid to the load unless you paid cash for it.

You can cancel the extended warranty yourself by sending the request
directly to Chrysler Group Service Contracts.
I've cancelled a few times with different jeeps, and always got the check, or it went to the lender, within a few weeks. The money amount was reduced based on how long I had the warranty before cancelling it.
Your warranty policy has the address to send to, written near the back pages. "Chrysler Group Service Contracts, Cancellation Department, P.O. Box 2700, Troy, MI 48007-2700". Send copies of the bill of sale, VIN, loan number and lender, if any. If the loan is paid off, send proof of that too. If there's a loan, and the extended warranty was financed through the loan, Chrysler sends the check to the lender. If you paid on your own, Chrysler sends you the check.
