Buying a used 06 need opinions

a very nice man is trying to sell his 06 Sport Wrangler.
he wants $12k which is reasonable for a Great condition wrangler.
it has a hard top and soft top and a sound bar.
The CATCH is that I met up with him to test it and he told me that the Transmission had been changed, he claims to have replaced the old one with a used 50k miles good one. so if someone can tell me if this is a HUGE red flag or if ill be alright.

-Also what would be a fair price for this car.
-I want to offer $8k
(Also the man who owned it before him had a plow which leads me to believe thats the reason the old Trans had issues)

---Help is greatly appreciated

-Thx Fam

Personally, unless I was the one who put on a snowplow, I would be very wary of this sale. Not only that snowplowing with a jeep is hard on the tranny, also the chance that there may be other issues such as the frame itself buckling under stress from plowing. There's a reason why most people use "OLD" trucks for plowing snow... I would pass. Find something else, don't rush into a situation that might set you back more then you know...

PS welcome to the forum!

Take the local transit for now, and take your time finding the right jeep. Some people on here have taken months to find there jeep. Took me abit over a month but I lucked out and had to travel 6 hours one way to get it as everything local to me was modded to hell or rusted to poop lol. Wanted a solid, non-modified stock jeep with reasonable amount of milage and nothing that needed a severe amount of work/money to pumped into right away except for the basics. So far, I'm very happy with my 2001 TJ 60th Edition. Both tops, new 31's added by the PO and no major issues a side from changing out the steering gear box in spring. Had it for over a year now, hate the MPG fact but it gets me from point a) to b) regardless of weather (and trust me we get it bad up here lmao).
