horn contact ring

My horn on my Jeep is inop. Pulling the button, there is no contact ring. Having trouble finding one online. Anything I can jerry rig to get it working or anyone know where a ring can be had?

Can you post a pic of what you mean I am not understanding what you mean by contact ring. A horn is a fairly simple process just a hot wire and button to close or open the electrical loop.

if someone else understands and helps you no need to post a pic

When I remove the horn button there is something missing which completes the circuit.

Panzer... You missing this bad boy?

The po of my jeep disassembled the horn and rather than me try to fix his mess I just found where the 2 connections were and connected them. Installing a push button under the dash.

Not a problem. I pulled mine just to shoot the pic for you. I stumbled across some on eBay when I was chasing down a new steering wheel. Here's one link I found......

Jeep Wrangler YJ Cherokee Steering Wheel Horn Contact Retainer Spring 87 95 CJ | eBay

Talk about very expensive for nothing!!!!!!! Maybe you can do better. I quickly found that link by googling '1987 jeep wrangler horn parts' and the pic was in 'images'. Don't know if you use that feature but its great for tracking down parts because you see the product. You probably knew.

Boy, they are proud of those two pieces. I saw a universal kit for 10 dollars less and it was new. The question is, will it work.

I couldn't believe what they were asking either. But if initially your horn worked I can't see why the kit wouldn't fix you up. This thing just sits under the hub held in place by those three little screws. Nothing else to it. Good luck
