skid plate rusted - is that bad?

I am buying a 2000 jeep wrangler with 148000 miles. Eberything looks good but the skid plate in the back is pretty rusted. What does that mean

Means the rest if the undercarriage and frame are probably a mess too.

...No, it doesn't.

I have. 2012 Wrangler and all but one of my skid plats already have rust. Rust on a skid plate means nothing because a skid plate is a isolated piece of metal under the jeep, it doesn't effect the frame at all. Its rusted because its been used, which is expected on a vehicle that sees any form of off road use. You can clean it up if you want or just replace it, a lot of people replace their stock skids anyway.

By back do you mean tranny skid?

Take it you can have it blasted and powder coated or grind her down yourself.

Get some rust converter and a spray bomb. Couple hours of work and should be good once complete you know how to do anything else rusted.
