Cliffs over Labor Day weekend?

Anyone interested? I'd love to go Friday, maybe Saturday!

6InARowMakesItGo 08-27-2013 01:32 AM

i am in. it has been too long for me.

WredTJ 08-27-2013 01:49 PM

AWESOME, 6!!! Which day works better for you?

milani 08-28-2013 09:56 AM

I'm going on Saturday. First time on the trails with the new jeep... Do they have varying difficulties of trails?

WredTJ 08-28-2013 10:14 AM

Milani, who are you going with? They have a map but I didn't follow it. And I think it did have ratings.

milani 08-28-2013 11:31 AM

Just me, the wife and kids...

You should join us!

milani 08-28-2013 01:30 PM

We are planning on Saturday. Let me know if you want to meet up. I could use someone with some experience/advice...

WredTJ 08-28-2013 02:45 PM

I'm still in my first season but many years of mountain biking that has transferred nicely!

My suggestions, milani:
- go out in pairs at least
- have tow points both front and rear
- have a tow strap
- have a CB
- have an air pump and good gauge

6InARowMakesItGo 08-28-2013 02:47 PM

either friday or saturday work.

Thanks! I should be receiving today:

Hi-Lift Jack, platform, and mount.
30x3" tow strap
Teraflex deflators
Multi-purpose shovel

And I am taking along an AC air compressor, since I have an invertor in my JK along with a hose long enough to get around the vehicle.

WRedTJ, if you want to meet up, I can let you know what time we are planning to be there... I am coming from Orland Park, so it should take me @ 1 hr to get there... The forecast is starting to call for rain... Guess I better pack my top as well!

WredTJ 08-28-2013 03:17 PM

Cool, sounds like you are setup nicely!! Does your Jeep already have tow / d-rings?

6, where are you driving in from? I'm coming down from Hoffman Estates.

Will try to do Saturday as well!!

Thanks! I have the OEM tow hooks that come on the front/rear of the sahara.

WredTJ 08-28-2013 03:40 PM

Sweet! Just checking!

WredTJ 08-28-2013 09:00 PM

Okay, I'm 100% in for Saturday! Let's make it an awesome day, gang!!!

Milani, shall we all plan to meet up at 9 at the park entrance? shoot me your mobile #!

Nick

milani 08-28-2013 09:24 PM

9 sounds good... PM sent

WredTJ 08-29-2013 11:23 AM

Awesome!! PM replied!! do you have a CB?

milani 08-29-2013 11:48 AM

Unfortunately, no I do not. I do have an old handheld scanner, but that doesn't do me much good if I need to talk to someone!

Ha, understood. Well if you happen to run across one pick it up! Will save us a shitload of time and getting in and out to coordinate and checking if clear, etc.
Trust me.

WredTJ 08-29-2013 12:27 PM

And buy a handheld! Simple and effective. Mine was like $75 with an antennae and perfect for the trails!

milani 08-29-2013 12:34 PM

Sounds like a trip to walmart is in store.. haha

Nice! I thought it was overkill at first then realized how much more driving we did vs out and talking!

But for sure hand held so you don't install and can use anywhere!

milani 08-29-2013 01:21 PM

I saw the cobra handheld, but I also like the Cobra 75 and Midland hidden installs.

milani 08-29-2013 02:59 PM

Went to Pep Boys, WalMart, and Best Buy. NO CB RADIOS ANYWHERE!!!! Everything is online now. I have one more chance. I am going to try getting to Fry's tomorrow. Phone first!!! haha

If you go to a truck stop they have them. Also amazon has them. I'm running a cobra from there works great

im coming from oregon il. it's southwest of rockford. i have a cb but my cord is broken. so basically no cb.

WredTJ 08-29-2013 03:57 PM

Great to know, maro. I need to find one and get a full size antennae to also mount trail flag!

I too run a Cobra from Amazon with a short magnetic antennae.

milani 08-29-2013 03:58 PM

I'll pass three truck stops on the way there, but I'll have the wife with me, which makes the purchase a little more obvious
