BB Lift installed and all is good

I just installed a 2.25" BB lift on my 97 SE. The installation was easier than I expected. I was done in just under 3 hours. :D After the installation I took her to get a professional alignment. She rides better than prior to the lift.

I'm still running the original shocks. They will be changed when the extra cash is available. I'm holding of on the shocks until after I get new tires. The tires will be purchased in about 2-3 months. Currently running 30 x 9.5 planning on 31 x 10.5.

Jeeps are a disease, once you start to modify, its hard to stop. Unfortunately this disease is one that keeps your wallet empty...

you'll have plenty of clearance for 32's

eprovenzano 08-18-2006 11:14 AM

I decided to go with 31's since its only a 4 banger, and I'm trying to keep some decent gas mileage... (or as much as I can in a Jeep) :D

hardy1531 08-18-2006 05:36 PM

yea a grand at a time is correct! i went with 31s for that reason too. I think in the long run I will be better off

OneBoltShort 08-21-2006 12:09 PM

My next step is the lift and tires. I'll clear 32s no problem with the 2" lift. I'd go with 33s but I've heard some horror stories about stock axles with 33s.

mrbigjeep 08-21-2006 01:58 PM

horror?? i might not go that far...i seriously doubt that they would snap in daily street driving (unless you drive like a moron with the pedal to the floor all the time)...now offroad the axle shafts could snap but i doubt your gonna be goin super fast for it to turn into a horror story...and i know people are gonna say that they've seen people break stock axles with 31's in a parking lot...but if you drive sensible on the street they are not gonna snap...maybe off road

I've run 33's for over a year with lots of trips off road.....no problem, but remember I'm open front & rear, lockers will add stress to the axles

I agree with you 100%. But if someone's never gonna take it off road what's the point of getting 33's?

I agree with you 100%. But if you're never gonna take your jeep offroad, why buy 33's?:D
