Yeah, um, it ain't just Cali.

Kansas may delay tax refunds, paychecks | Breaking News | Kansas.com

Quote:

Income tax refunds and state employee paychecks could be late after Republican leaders and the Democratic governor clashed Monday over how to solve a cash-flow problem.

Payments to Medicaid providers and schools also could be delayed.

"We are out of cash, in essence," state budget director Duane Goossen said.

It's the whole country, boys, we're in it together.

For Kansas it was waiting on a bill for the Governor to sign. She Signed it a couple hours ago.

Kansas and its state works will now get there money. Or so they just said on the local Wichita KS new.

skeeter 02-17-2009 09:25 PM

Yep.
Just a budget dispute between the liberal governor and conservative legislature.
The democrat gov wants to borrow money to keep throwing it away and the republican legislature wants her to cut spending.

It seems CA is going down the tubes at an accelerated pace. I wouldn't move here unless you have a skill that is reccession proof.

skeeter 02-17-2009 09:31 PM

I don't get those anyway. I always owe! :banghead:

The big problem for me is that Arnie has stopped all PW projects. They wont be funded again until June at best, more likely July or August. The private side of construction has stopped completely due to banks not lending and leary investors. Construction can't afford to stop for 120 days on the public side or it will completely devastate the industry here. The lower 48 will see Cali's construction labor force leaving to seek employment elsewhere, driving unemployment up in their states.

Pointy, I'm really sorry things are looking so bad for you. Is there somewhere else you can go?

I've got resume's out in 11 western states. :eek::D:cool:

I really don't want to go west of the Rockies. :zap:

amy 02-17-2009 11:12 PM

I wish you the best of luck. Hopefully, you'll find something right there in your home area. Say... do you have a hobby you could make money with from home?

Why don't you want to go west of the Rockies? There's all kinds of beautiful country, west of the Rockies, that's not California, Little California (western Oregon) or Far North California (western Washington).

I'm sorry I meant East of the Rockies. My hobbies would not support me, hunting and wheeling. I'm not very good at either. :D

amy 02-18-2009 01:33 PM

Ahhhh, ok. That makes more sense.

So these banking jokers donít operate in a vacuum after all, and although we would like to see them pay for their crimes, we see that from a pragmatic view this is more of a tar pitóthe size and dimensions of which are not known.

I wonder why we let them take out the legislation that made these financial escapades illegal? I wonder how that happened? It was Phil Gramm that championed the legislation, and heís a good conservative man and a strong Christian. Why would he think this was a good idea? Who convinced him that the banking industry was better suited to monitor their own activities? Was it a financial lobby playing to his pride and blind idealism? Wonder if there is a lesson to be learned, or if we just need to stay on course and keep demonizing the progressives who also voted for this sh!t sandwhich?
